Stardew Valley Player nearly fails massive achievement thanks to one tiny detail

There are many ways to play Stardew Valley, But for some fans there is one ultimate goal. The players strive for nothing short of perfection, aiming to achieve 100% completion of the game. The highly coveted milestone requires players to complete each achievementIncluding finding all the collectibles, catching all the fish, maxing out every relationship and creating every item and recipe in the game. It can take hundreds of hours and, as one player recently found out, the smallest mistake can derail the journey to perfection.

Reddit user child_of_midnight Shares their story of getting stuck at 99% completion. The only thing preventing them from claiming the win was crafting each recipe.

For a whole year, one last recipe exceeded them. The elusive culprit was none other than one of the most basic recipes in the game: A torch.

Why Stardew Valley Torches can be easily overlooked

Crafting isn’t the only way to get them

How is it possible that the humble torch caused so much trouble for Child_of_Midnight? Torches are extremely common in Stardew ValleyAnd almost all players will use them at one point or another. Torches can provide light inside and outside, can be held, and provide much-needed lighting in the darkness of the mines. The torch can even be used as Stardew Valley Decor in some unexpected ways. The torch can easily be crafted with one wood and two saps.

The problem is that Torches are simply too abundant in the game. The easiest way to get torches is just picking them up in the mines. Torches can also be created by placing a soggy newspaper in the recycling machine. As a result, many players can play for hours without ever making a torch, which is required to hit 100%

The torch isn’t exactly a hidden item in the game, but it’s a great example of how much there is to explore in Stardew Valley. Some secrets and new ways are still being discovered by players, like an easy grass-growing tip that one player didn’t know after 1,100 hours of playing. Many members of the community are also okay with never getting 100% in the game. There are many ways to play the farming sim, which is what makes Concerned Ape’s indie pet such a hit with fans of all ages.
