To celebrate Doctor Who Day, deleted scenes from the 60th anniversary special and the first season of Ncuti Gatwa have been released online. The beloved long-running science fiction series began on November 23, 1963, introducing viewers to the Time Lord and his TARDIS for the first time. Gatwa made his debut during the end of Doctor WhoThe 2023 60th anniversary specials then led the series as the Fifteenth Doctor for the subsequent seasonal special and the 14th season.

How November 23 marked the show’s 61st anniversary Doctor Who released a compilation with several deleted scenes from episodes released in 2023 and 2024. Check it out below:

The compilation includes scenes that were entirely cutlike a tense confrontation between Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) and Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) from “The Giggle,” and extended sequences like a longer peek into the Bogeyman’s lair in “Space Babies.” The video also features an alternate version of Sutekh’s revelation from “The Legend of Ruby Sunday,” as well as several other moments from recent episodes.

What Doctor Who deleted scenes mean for season 14

Several moments address much-discussed elements

For many of these sequences, it is understandable why they were cut from the final versions of the film. Doctor Who episodes of the 14th season. Scenes like Donna’s family argument and Ruby’s discussion about her past were reworked or had vital information moved to other moments. Meanwhile, longer sequences featured in the video above have been re-edited and shortened, likely to fit the running time. The decision to tweak or remove these sequences likely came down to storytelling purposes.and ultimately didn’t impact the final product much.

However, there are a few scenes that would be worth including in the final episode. The extended final dialogue of “The Devil Chord”, featuring the Doctor and Ruby and the Doctor’s whistle, would provide some clarity for the audience. The scene explains elements that viewers debated when the episode aired. As such, cutscenes can explain obscure plot points and make the episode as a whole stronger.

While deleted scenes can’t compare to full-length specials when it comes to an anniversary celebration, the newly released Doctor Who the footage is, however, a perfect reward for those celebrating the show’s milestones. Even when they reveal nothing new or present genuine substance, each moment leaves viewers wondering what could have been and offer a look at the unfiltered process behind creating an episode.

Additionally, the new scenes may offer a hint about how the series will celebrate its milestones outside of big anniversaries under Disney and BBC co-production agreement. Each year might bring some special little release for viewers, even if it’s just a brief 10-minute video. With Doctor Who season 15 will be released next year, the show’s 62nd anniversary could also offer some extra gifts.
