There’s no way Johnny and Daniel’s team could have beaten Cobra Kai’s Sekai Taikai anyway

Warning: Spoilers for Cobra Kai season 6, part 2

Cobra Kai The end of season 6 part 2 highlights how slim the Miyagi-Do team’s chances of winning the Sekai Taikai were. After months of preparation, Johnny, Daniel and Chozen assembled a talented team of six fighters for the Sekai Taikai tournament, with the hopes of winning a world championship. Upon arriving at Barcelona for the competition, he made an impressive effort and overcame many adversities. Although not without their fair share of mistakes, they survived 12 Sekai Taikai teams to become one of the last four survivors.

But instead of ending with a winner crowned in Cobra Kai Last episode of season 6, part 2, the Netflix series left the door open for it to be completely canceled. With Kwon dead as a result of a fight that broke out at the tournament, there is now a very real possibility that Cobra Kai the final tournament won’t even have a winner. However, it’s not like the fight itself denied Johnny and Daniel their victory. Based on how things were going, Miyagi-Do was going to fail anyway.

Axel would go on to win the men’s captain competition

It was only a matter of time before Robby lost to Axel

The semi-final match between Miyagi-Do’s Robby and Iron Dragons’ Axel never had a proper conclusion, but the trajectory of the fight made the final outcome clear. One issue that plagued Robby throughout the tournament was his lack of focus and inability to keep Tory out of his thoughts, but even without that being a factor in the match, Robby was clearly outmatched. Axel maintained a robust defense against his opponent’s attacks and looked equally quick and agile. At no point in the fight was there any indication that Robby could in any way prevail.

Robby successfully dodged and blocked some of his blows, but was never able to do more than that. When the fight was stopped, Axel had five points, while Robby has yet to score any. It’s true that twists happen in The Karate Kid franchise, but Robby turning things around seems unlikely in this situation. There was an immense gap in strength, meaning Axel would be able to withstand more punishment than Robby. He would wear himself out before that happened to the best fighter in the Iron Dragons dojo in Cobra Kai.

Even though the fight with Robby was only in the semi-finals, there was a sense of inevitability when it came to Axel winning the men’s captain competition. After defeating Robby, he would have advanced to the finals to fight Kwon, another fighter who was certain to win. This was evident in the fight, when a desperate Kwon resorted to using Kreese’s knife when confronted with Axel. As proven by Kwon’s loss to Robby in a previous event, he would be the weaker of Axel’s two opponents.

Even if Sam beat Tory and Zara, Miyagi-Do would still lose

Miyagi-Do’s chances of winning Sekai Taikai depended on Robby defeating Axel

Zara with Sam and Devon in Cobra Kai

While it’s important to note that Miyagi-Do’s Sekai Taikai team still had two fighters left in play, winning the match between Robby and Axel was essential to any scenario in which they would become Sekai Taikai champions.. Assuming Sam managed to beat Tory, she would have fought Zara in the final round of the female captains competition. There is no proof of who would have won this fight, but if it was Sam who emerged triumphant, this result would not have moved the direction of Miyagi-Do much without Robby’s victory in the men’s captain event.

Before Robby’s fight with Axel, the total score on screen confirmed that the Iron Dragons were surpassing Miyagi-Do. Firmly first, Sensei Wolf’s students had 138 points against Miyagi-Do’s 87. Hypothetically, Sam’s win over Tory would have closed the gap a bit, but Axel beating Robby (and then Kwon) would certainly put the championship out of reach for Daniel and Johnny’s team before Sam could fight Zara in the finals.

Miyagi-Do is unlikely to win even with Miguel as male captain

If Robby had given up the captain position to Miguel, the Iron Dragons would still win

Axel and Miguel facing off in Cobra Kai

A recurring theme in Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 was the notion that Robby might not be the right choice to lead the Miyagi-Do team. Whether this is true or not, there is no evidence that a different choice would have helped them win the tournament. During the fight, Miguel finally got the chance to face Axel, and although that fight also did not have a definitive winner, Miguel also proved to be at a clear disadvantage against him. Similar to how he faced Robby, Axel was the only one to land the blows, with Miguel being pushed back with each blow.

It seems like Terry Silver really would have gotten revenge if the fight hadn’t started.

This shows that Miyagi-Do was never in a good position to beat Sekai Taikai. It is theoretically possible that with the considerably more focused Miguel as leader, they would have more points in the semi-finals and therefore increase their chances of winning the championship, but Axel would remain the favorite to win the men’s captain competition. Considering all this, it seems that Terry Silver really would have gotten revenge if the fight hadn’t broken out in the final rounds of the tournament.

Will Miyagi-Do be able to find a way to win if the tournament continues?

It’s unclear if Robby getting a second chance with Axel would change anything

Although victory seemed imminent for Terry Silver’s Sekai Taikai team, Cobra Kai apparently got around this with the fight. However, there has been no confirmation of the event’s official cancellation, since the aftermath of Kwon’s death in Cobra Kai has not yet been shown. Judging by the circumstances, the people overseeing the tournament would have good reason to cancel this year’s competition, but it is possible that those who want it to continue could successfully advocate for its resumption. If that happens, it’s worth asking whether Daniel and Johnny will be able to produce a different result.

If it advances, Miyagi-Do will face a difficult battle against the Iron Dragons

Now that Robby fought Axel in Cobra Kaihe will be able to step onto the mat with a much better idea of what he needs to do to win. This experience could be vital as it could lead to Robby performing better in a fight he was originally going to lose, likely by a significant margin. Any preparation he could get during the delay could help tremendously, but it’s hard to imagine that it would shift the odds in Axel’s favor, as Axel will still be considerably stronger. IIf it moves forward, Miyagi-Do will face an uphill battle against the Iron Dragonswho are well positioned to win Sekai Taikai.

Cobra Kai is a sequel to the series that continues the narrative of the Karate Kid saga, set 30 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. It focuses on Johnny Lawrence seeking redemption by reopening the Cobra Kai dojo, reigniting his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso , who strives to maintain balance in his life.
