The first time Hinata and Kageyama actually played together

The final arc

Everyone is grown up now

The final arc of Haikyuu!! In fact, Hinata, Kageyama or Nishinoya play together for Karasuno. Instead, it takes place a few years after graduation and shows what the players are up to after high school. It still features the same characters playing the same sports as the rest of the series, however It doesn’t feel the same with Hinata and Kageyama playing on opposite sides of the court. Part of that makes Haikyuu!! So exciting are the temporary feelings that can come from high school sports.

The team is temporary and yet the moments last forever. In the world of professional sports, however, Haikyuu!! Separates most of their main cast into subsections that aren’t as fun as when everyone was together. Although the final arc still has a lot to offer, It doesn’t really compare to when Karasuno plays as one. Still, there are no bad arcs in it Haikyuu!! And the final arc is still a most satisfying epilogue for the series.

Karasuno High team formation

The beginning of one of the best sports anime ever

The first arc of Haikyuu!! is a big one. It introduces viewers to Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama, two of the most ambitious young volleyball players around and also one of the best rivalries in sports anime. Hinata doesn’t have much of a team in junior high and instead brings together a makeshift group through her sheer excitement. Kageyama is the exact opposite, reigning over his skilled squad like a tyrant. Eventually, the two meet at Karasuno High where they grow to become almost unstoppable.

While the first arc, the Karasuno High Team Formation arc, doesn’t have the same high-flying matches that come later in the series, it does have wholesome bonding moments. No great team is formed overnight, and it’s exciting to see the beginnings of both Kageyama and Hinata as they overcome their differences and Learn to work with each other’s strengths for the good of the team.

Tokyo Expedition Ark

Small town boys go to the big city for battle

The Tokyo Expedition Arc is one of the most fun arcs in Haikyuu!! It features Karasuno as they are invited to a training camp filled with tons of great players from other teams. The most notable team invited to the training camp is Fukurodani Academy, a team with one of the best players in the nation in Bokuto Kotaro. Bokuto is widely accepted as the fourth best mouse in all ofJapan as the fourth best mouse and his wisdom helped Karasuno players a lot, No more than Kei Tsukishima. Tsukishima is normally a reserved character, too cool to show emotions, but Bokuto brought out the best in him.

One of the funniest moments in the arc came when Karasuno found out their reward for playing so many games was a meat-packed lunch. The characters’ reactions to getting a little more protein in their diet are hilarious. The meal worked as Karasuno’s players hit the courts with a little more of an edge, knowing that such a good meal was coming their way.

Spring High Preliminary Arc

You cannot take the crown without facing the king

Ushijima Wakatoshi is probably the single best volleyball player ever Haikyuu!!. Unfortunately for the great Ushiwaka, volleyball is not just one-on-one. The Spring High preliminary arc features Karasuno facing their biggest threat yet. Not only does the arc feature the second best match in Haikyuu!!, But the setup of the game was phenomenal. The arc starts with Karasuno heading to Tokyo for the preliminary matches. During their warm-ups, Hinata and Kageyama got lost and were found by none other than Ushiwaka himself. He invites them to his school to check out where he practices.

They go over to Shiratorizawa and investigate their future opponents. Ushijima, unfazed by their presence, mocks them for coming “from the concrete”, as they are nothing more than country bumpkins to him. In an exciting moment of desolation, As Ushijima leapt into the air to catch a rogue ball, Hinata jumps in front of him and grabs it. Ushijima is shocked when Hinata gives him the ball and introduces herself as Hinata of the concrete, someone who was going to beat Ushiwaka.

Tokyo Nationals Arc

Karasuno vs. Inarizaki High Is Haikyuu!! at his best

The Tokyo Nationals Arc is by far the best arc of all Haikyuu!! It’s not even animated yet, and one of the most important matches has been turned into a movie, but that doesn’t matter. Karasuno High vs. Inarizaki High is the greatest volleyball game in Haikyuu!! And in all anime.

The Mia twins were two of the greatest players Karasuno had ever faced, and together, they pulled off jaw-dropping moves Hinata and Kageyama could barely keep up with. One of the greatest strengths of this match is its sound design. Although all the matches in the series have big, booming music behind them, Karasuno vs. Inarizaki sounded fun.

Related

It has such great jazz that Cowboy Bepop Fans would get jealous. As the Mia twins flew through the air, the room sounded like a dance floor. The smooth saxophone mixed with the sharp horns made the game feel like a party. Even on screen, the sound is used to create a sense of tension for Karasuno players.

The Inarizaki Band plays its orchestral music before the team serves, as Atsumu Miya raises an open hand in the air. He closes it suddenly, makes a hard fist and silences the volume in an instant. Astumu controlling the band before he serves is one of the coldest moments in the series, juxtaposed against the red-hot match being played in front of him. All this adds up to make the Tokyo Nationals Arc Haikyuu!!’s Best arc.
