However, in the final episode of Ágatha all the time, Mephisto was nowhere to be seen, overshadowed by another powerful supernatural entity. Fortunately, there are still plenty of ways the MCU could introduce the demon lord in an official capacity.

She-Hulk’s Mephisto Tease Could Lead to Official MCU Introduction
The series has already teased Mephisto’s home territory
The closest the MCU has come so far to introducing Mephisto was a brief subplot in She-Hulk: Lawyer, of all things. In episode 4 of the miniseries, a low-level sorcerer above his head enters a hellish realm known as the Demon Dimension. Before long, the hapless wizard accidentally opens a portal to this dimension, allowing a horde of monstrous demonic creatures to penetrate reality.
Even though these demons don’t look much like Mephisto commands in the comics, this companion plot is currently the closest thing the MCU has to a proper Mephisto appearance. This is an early sign that the MCU could actually be setting up Mephisto, despite the numerous fakes with WandaVision and Ágatha all the time. Returning to the concept of the Demonic Dimension, whether in a future season of She-Hulk: Lawyer or a new Doctor Strange film, it would be an easy entry for the villain.

Avengers: Endgame marked the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Saga, revolving around the capture and use of the eponymous Infinity Stones, and the beginning of the Multiverse Saga. This saga has seen an increase in interdimensional travel through various means, be it quantum wormholes, magical spells, or TVA timeline-hopping shenanigans. The very premise of the Multiverse Saga made it incredibly easy to introduce any character, let alone a powerful villain.
Through several multiversal portals, Mephisto could invade the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. This may not be the most exciting entry for such a big-time villain, but it’s a convenient enough method to introduce any character the MCU needs. Whether Mephisto would simply need to arrive from the Demon Dimension or an alternate version of Earth is anyone’s guess.

There are a countless number of ways the Marvel Cinematic Universe could suddenly feature Mephisto as a secondary movie villain. But in truth, as one of the most powerful antagonists in Marvel comics, Mephisto truly deserves his own time to shine as an all-encompassing villain who terrorizes the Avengers across multiple films. Instead of being an immediate physical threat like Thanos, Mephisto’s multi-film plans and cruel machinations could largely take place in the background, subtly manipulating the franchises’ events to his advantage.
Doctor Doom is set to be the next big villain the MCU introduces, which means it’s not the ideal time for Mephisto to take over the show. It’s difficult to say how long the MCU will last beyond Phases 5 and 6, if the series still has gas in the tank after Robert Downey Jr. If the franchise moves on to a third saga, however, Mephisto would be a perfect driver of the conflict.

Despite being such an ancient supernatural threat, Mephisto commonly finds his way into Spider-Man stories in the comics, with Peter Parker being the perfect tortured soul for the hellish villain to draw hope from. In particular, Mephisto canonically made Spider-Man’s life miserable by influencing Norman Osborn’s slow transformation into the Green Goblin. In addition to the experimental concoction that Osborn indulges in, Mephisto’s subtle poking and prodding hinted at an entirely otherworldly kind of evil flowing into the character.
He must Spider-Man 4 introduce a new version of Norman Osborn native to the main MCU timeline, the follow-up film could be a great place to introduce Mephisto. Mephisto could subtly pressure Norman Osborn into becoming the Green Goblin through metaphysical means, his machinations only revealed in a tortuous post-credits sequence. Over Green Goblin’s shoulder, Mephisto has a clear path into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe made headlines with the decision to bring Robert Downey Jr. back as Doctor Doom, replacing the failed hype of Kang the Conqueror with a much more exciting Marvel villain to hold up the next two Avengers films. However, the comics present a fantastic way for Doctor Doom’s tragic origin to actually introduce Mephisto. In his comic origins, Doctor Doom is largely motivated by the fate of his mother, Cynthia von Doom, a witch whose soul is captured and held by Mephisto in his hellish realm.
The knowledge of this cruel fate drives many of Doctor Doom’s deeds, which it’s easy to see the MCU slowly revealing as the impetus behind his actions over time. Once Doom is resolved and his mother is freed, perhaps even given a redemption arc of sorts, the admittedly evil Mephisto could step in to retaliate for freeing one of his captives. This could be an easy way for the MCU to have one big villain flow into the introduction of another.

Considering that WandaVision and his spiritual successor, Ágatha all the time, were the biggest stars of the initial Mephisto MCU theory, it would be fitting for a related character to announce their official appearance in the franchise. At the end of Agatha all the timeBilly and Agatha embark on a journey to find Tommy, implying that his freed spirit is also still hidden somewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It could very well be that this journey leads them directly into the clutches of Mephisto in the Demon Dimension.
There is some comic precedence for Mephisto being related to the creation of Scarlet Witch and Vision’s children, having a hand in their creation using the soul of a dead evil sorcerer named Master Pandemonium. This origin could be simplified to give Mephisto retroactive help in the birth of the boys, collecting what was owed to him when Tommy’s spirit passed away. Confronting Mephisto could be the key to resurrecting Tommy as the speedy hero Speed for the Young Avengers.

Nick Cage’s Ghostrider Could Bring Mephisto With Him
The cameo that never existed could still happen
Recently, Deadpool and Wolverine incorporated a variety of cameos from previous characters from non-MCU Marvel films, canonizing them into the series via alternate reality. Recently, Ryan Reynolds revealed that Ghost Rider was planned for Deadpool and Wolverine also, with a special appearance by Nic Cage, unfortunately unable to speak out. That doesn’t mean the spectral Spirit of Vengeance could never return to the series.
Interestingly, the only time Mephisto as a character appeared in a live-action film was in Ghost Rider duology, played by the late Peter Fonda in the first film and Ciaran Hinds in the second. The latter could even return to the series on the back of Nic Cage’s Ghost Rider, perhaps even forming a villainous league of alternate reality antagonists, just as he does in the comics with the Masters of Evil. If Nic Cage was willing to play ball, Mephisto could get to his side.

Like any good demonic figure, Mephisto’s power often lies in his scheming, making cunning deals with well-meaning heroes only to make their lives miserable with their consequences. Although he had a hand in creating Tommy and Billy Maximoff in the original comics, another confirmed series could feature some new children who could also be born from Mephisto’s influence. Enter the upcoming Vision series, which is rumored to see Vision creating his own android family, just like he does in the Vision Mission comics.
White Vision, a new version of the android carried in the original’s corpse, has not been seen since. WandaVision. This would make him a suitable vector for Mephisto to approach the MCU, offering him a family at a terrible cost. Mephisto’s incredible powers could see the creation of Mink’s daughter Vivian, adding another child of the magically created hero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The next series Wonder Man will introduce the MCU’s latest hero, the ion-charged Wonder Man. In fact, Wonder Man had a brief encounter with Mephisto at one point in the comics through his most famous son, Blackheart.
Alongside his brother, masked supervillain The Grim Reaper, comic book Wonder Man is pulled into Mephisto’s demon-infested dimension by Blackheart. Here, the three battle the demon overlord, presenting one of the greatest challenges to Wonder Man’s powers ever. Like the strange appearance of the Demon Dimension in She-Hulk: Lawyerthe place could return alongside its master in another unexpected Disney+ series.

Being such a conniving manipulator, it’s no wonder Mephisto has appeared in a wide variety of forms throughout his Marvel Comics career. He is often known for assuming the identities of others in the universe, including other powerful villains. At one point, Mephisto even takes the form of The Maker, one of the most impactful antagonists in the Ultimate Marvel universe.
The Maker is an alternate reality version of Reed Richards who uses his vast intellect as a weapon for tyrannical purposes, serving as a dark reflection of Mr. Fantastic and one of the Fantastic Four’s greatest enemies. The MCU could be heavily dependent on the Fantastic Four entering Phase 6, meaning the Creator could be their next big enemy after Doctor Doom and Galactus.
