Sonic X Shadow Generations sells over 1 million copies worldwide during launch weekend

Sonic X Shadow Generations was released on October 22 and has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide since its opening weekend. Although it’s been a few weeks since launch, this is the first time in a while that sales data has been released, giving fans of the franchise an insight into the success of a nostalgic title.

As reported by NintendoLife, Sonic X Shadow Generations was a resounding success, reaching more than 1.5 million copies sold since launch, and receiving nine out of ten stars in the title’s initial review. While the latest addition to the franchise is a remaster of the original 2011 title, Sonic Generationscame with a plethora of new campaign content that featured none other than Shadow the Hedgehog, rather than just the speedy Sonic fans know and love.

Initially, as revealed by the official Sonic the Hedgehog Account at X in October, the title sold more than a million copies in the first weekend alone, meaning that since then, an additional 500,000 copies have been purchased.

Hedgehog fans can’t seem to get enough

Sonic X Shadow Generations It came out racing with overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, and a raving review from ScreenRant’s Jason Hon as well. The addition to the franchise could be a remake of the 2011 film Sonic Generations title, but the addition of Shadow impressed fans around the world. Being able to play as Shadow and go through iconic stages from Shadow’s past keeps things fresh and exciting, while also staying true to the original.

Fans were equally excited about the package available for Sonic X Shadow Generations included the original title, with one known as Bayo saying “The package is much more complete.” with both games included. The original Sonic Generations has also been revised and remasteredproviding sophisticated visuals and even some bonus content for fans to enjoy.

Our take: Sonic titles are nostalgic and iconic

Sonic games will always have a special place in fans’ hearts

Sonic will always have a special place in my heart, as will most fans of the franchise, as it has been around since 1991. The platform game brought a new element of chaos with Sonic being one of the fastest characters players have ever seen on top of the colored backgrounds and presents the title offered. Having first released on the Sega Genisis, longtime fans will never forget the sound of the title booting up for the first time and the overwhelming sense of nostalgia the sound can still bring.

Although it’s been years since I dove head first into a Sonic title, Sonic X Shadow Generations It definitely brings me back to the good old days, as the game stayed true to the original platformer I grew up playing, while also bringing back one of my favorite characters, Shadow. Hopefully the next addition to the franchise will be as spectacular as Sonic Frontiers It was a failure for fans.
