Everything to know about Overwatch 2’s newest tank, Hazard

Surveillance 2 fully showed off what players can expect from their newest tank hero, Hazard. Hazard continues the trend of new heroes undergoing a short trial in the previous season. This worked incredibly well for the hero shooter, building excitement for the new hero and giving the developers time to fine-tune the new addition. Venture and Juno, who received initial testing, were released in a state of near-perfect balance, if not just slightly knocked down, which was a welcome change when compared to previous heroes.

With Hazard’s announcement, the future heroes of Surveillance 2 are a complete stranger. Blizzcon 2023 officially showed off everything about the hero Mauga, along with the first peeks at Venture and Juno, but the convention also provided the slightest hint of early concept art of Hazard in the role of Tank. This gave many the idea that the hero of season 14 would be a tank. At the beginning of season 13, the community received teases about the Phreaks faction, initially inspired by one of the SurveillanceThe first conceptual heroes.

Who is the danger of Overwatch 2

The Leader of the Phreaks

Hazard grew up in a turbulent family and enlisted in the army in hopes of finding stability. However, following an accident in which an Overwatch ship crashed into his location, which is believed to be part of Tracer’s origin story, he suffered serious bodily injuries. Once again left alone, Hazard joined the Phreaks, a cyberpunk-style rebel group who wanted to change the world in their own way. There, Hazard quickly rose through the ranks to lead the group, eventually planning a heist to steal the vanadium isotopes that give him his non-cybernetic powers.

How Hazard works in Overwatch 2

A hybrid weapon

Overwatch 2 Hazard Skill Sheet.

Hazard is a chaotic new addition to Surveillance 2combining brawling and diving mechanics into a single package. His primary weapon is Bonespur, a shotgun-like arm accessory that launches crystallized spikes. Its mobility is complemented by Violent Leap and Jagged Wall. The first is essentially a mini Winston jump that gives Hazard the option to attack a nearby target to end the jump early. Jagged Wall is a placeable structure that damages enemies that hit it, cuts angles, and gives him a place to use his passive Vault that scales small surfaces.

The last two parts of Hazard’s kit suit his Tank role well. Spike Guard is similar to Ramattra or Doomfist’s damage blocking ability, but works on a power meter instead of a cooldown. When using Spike Guard, Hazard will have a small cone shape in front of him that will automatically target enemies with the crystals on his back.. Lastly, his ultimate, Downpour, will launch a rain of spikes across a wide area, dealing light damage and trapping all enemies hit.

Who works best with danger

Built to Succeed in Any Format

Whether for the 5v5 or 6v6 tests of Season 14, Hazard appears to work well with the current lineup. In 5v5, he will probably be better for brawl comps than pure diving, as tanks like Winston and D.Va will still have more range. However, when compared to other brawler tanks like Ramattra or Reinhardt, Hazard offers much, if not more, of the same damage while also bringing CC abilities that few other tanks possess. DPS that would work well with Hazard include Mei, Reaper, Junkrat, and Venture.

Mei specifically opens tons of doors for annoying but strong CC encounters with Hazard.

While 6v6 tests are active, or if the format returns permanently, Hazard has good synergy with many tanks. Obvious fighting pairs include Zarya, Ramattra, and Roadhog, who could work together to isolate targets and support each other. It could also combine with scuba tanks to create a hybrid style.and in this regard your best option would be Doomfist. The best DPS to pair in 6v6 are the usual brawl options, but dive options like Tracer, Genji, and Echo are also viable.

Overall, Hazard is shaping up to be an exciting new addition to the hero shooter. His playstyle offers a balanced mix of being a support tank while still allowing the player to have an impact on damage. It’s intriguing that his kit seems suitable for any team format, and it could be a sign of where the game is going since the cancellation of the PvE hero mode. For now, Hazard and everything known about him will be released in Surveillance 25v5 format.
