With so many sequels being made lately, it’s only fair that The Devil Wears Prada will get its own sequel to the film. The original film starred famous movie stars Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep. All of the characters played by the three actors worked at Runway magazine in New York. Fortunately for the audience, according to Entertainment Weeklythe three actors, along with Stanley Tucci, will return to direct the highly anticipated sequel. However, there is one thing the sequel needs to do to make it even more exciting than it already is. This means focusing on Emily.
The first film focused on Andy’s work at Runway from when she started until her departure from the company. Andy’s story has already been told, but one of the underused characters in the film was Emily (Emily Blunt). In the film, Emily groveled as Miranda Priestly’s assistant, wanting to move up the company’s hierarchy. So what better way to do a sequel than with Emily, showing where she ended up in her career? Considering Streep is set to return, it’s possible she could be at odds with Miranda, allowing viewers to see a different dynamic between the characters.
‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Should Focus on Emily This Time
There are more stories to be told about Emily than about Andy.
Although the continuation of the original novel entitled Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns was written and published, there is no indication that a film sequel will follow the book. In the book, Andy works at a wedding magazine and is planning her own wedding until her life is turned upside down by Miranda’s return. Although there is a story there, if the film had this story, it would have been quite repeating the original. What’s important is that this new film tells a new story.preferably from Emily’s point of view.
The “Devil” mentioned in the title does not necessarily mean Miranda, but rather the figurehead of the fashion magazine.
It would be interesting to see Emily’s progress in her profession, whether she’s still at Runway or not. It would also be interesting to see her feud with Miranda Priestly or even act as the new Miranda after working for her for so many years. This could be an interesting metaphor, since the “devil” mentioned in the title does not necessarily mean Miranda, but rather the figurehead of a fashion magazine. Anyway, There’s a lot more potential for a new, more interesting story around Emily. than another movie about Andy’s life.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 may not be a traditional continuation of Andy’s story
It’s been too long to do a story about Andy
Although the second book is based on Andy, the second movie makes no sense. The actors and creatives have already recognized this and realized that more than 15 years have passed since the release of the first film. Because of this time jump, if the film is set in today, 2024 (or 2025), it is important to show how the fashion industry has changed since the first film. It means it would be impossible to do this by focusing on Andy, how she turned away from the fashion industry after the release of the first film.

Whatever direction the second one is The Devil Wears Prada The film will be great, because the sequel has been awaited for so long. It would be nice if the movie went in a different direction from the first one, and the easiest and most obvious way to do that would be to focus the movie away from Andy and more on Emily and her journey since the first movie. .
