Butcher’s final words to Mother’s Milk may be the boys’ most haunting moment (including all of Homelander’s murders).

There are tons of memorable and complex characters in The boys But few are as complex as Billy Butcher. While Billy was mostly driven by rage over Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic, no one could really see how far that rage would take him. This leads to one of the most heartbreaking moments in the comic, when Butcher kills one of his best friends.

The great crux and driving force of The boys Story is the titular boys trying to hunt down and kill the seven, with Homelander at the top of the list. This is primarily driven by Billy Butcher’s hatred of Supes, and his particular hatred of Homelander. Butcher will stop at nothing to kill Homelander, however After Homelander is finally dead, Butcher’s sense of revenge is not exhaustedWhat leads him to do the unthinkable.

Butcher kills Mother’s milk with the same detached attitude that he does with Jack of Jupiter. All the while, Jack begs for his life, pleading his innocence, and Butcher simply ignores him. It’s not that Butcher doesn’t believe Jack or anything like that, But Butcher explains that he is not even the one killing him.

As Butcher stops Jack over and over, he keeps repeating, “It’s not me, I’m not hereThis statement shows exactly how terribly efficient he is to separate on command, he even notices that he is not the one stabbing Jack, he simply sees that it is happening from somewhere else. The ability to completely disconnect from his emotions is the same trait that allows him to kill mother’s milk. He Knows What he’s doing is bad and wrong, but he can’t stop, because he’s not the one doing it.

It is a remarkably sad meeting. Throughout the series, Butcher is mostly cold and stays away from the other members of the Boys. Butcher spends the most time with Yuji, and there’s no denying that he respects and cares for all of them, but he’s careful to never get too Close. There are also many moments that showcase his willingness to manipulate and use them, despite his positive feelings towards them. For example, he manipulates the group to become mad at Yuji, which ostracizes him from the group.

The only person who made Butcher a human instead of a monster was Becca.

At heart, Butcher is a soldier, and he always has been. Once he sets his mind on a mission, he will accomplish it, and nothing will stop him. The only person who made Butcher feel like a person instead of a monster was Becca, who was so unfairly ripped away from him. It is because of this loss that Butcher simply returned to what he knew best: fighting wars. He is perfectly capable of seeing the other people in his life as people, because they are good or bad, but he simply cannot stop himself from using them as soldiers to win the war he is constantly fighting.

Butcher’s war against Supes does not need to continue

The great tragedy of The boys Storyline is not only that Supes are almost always corrupt and horrible people, It is that almost anyone can be corrupted by their ideals. Although Butcher may very well have started with the intention of only killing Homelander, over time, he creates the new war that can only be finished when every Supe on Earth is dead. There is no reason to go that far. He was able to stop after Homelander’s death, but Butcher Will never stop until the war is won, even if it means killing every other member of The boys.

The Boys is a gritty and subversive take on the superhero genre, focusing on a group of vigilantes who confront powerful superheroes abusing their abilities, exploring themes of corruption and moral ambiguity in a world where heroes are not always what they seem. .
