The next Star Wars film is entirely based on The Mandalorian TV show and its characters, but it seems like the franchise is completely ignoring this TV show before The Mandalorian and Grogulaunch. Long before The Mandalorian and Grogu the film was even a concept, The Mandalorian was debuting to the world and taking it by storm, making history for the franchise by proving just how successful the realm of live-action TV could be for the galaxy. Now, though, merchandise and theme park additions aside, it’s almost as if it no longer exists.
The Mandalorian was originally slated for four seasons, with creator and executive producer Jon Favreau revealing in early 2023 that The Mandalorian The scripts for Season 4 were already written, but delays during the Hollywood strikes later that year seemed to convince them to turn this season into a movie. In January 2024, The Mandalorian and Grogu was announced, and since then, absolutely nothing about the future, and even the past, to some extent, of The Mandalorian The TV show was recognized. Even worse, Star Wars appears to be largely ignoring this hit series since season three.
Star Wars has not updated its database for Mandalorian season 3
It is the only program that is not fully updated
Star Wars official website, StarWars. withcontains a “database” of information about its various properties to provide the public with resources about characters, creatures, and more. Star Wars movies and TV shows. For the latter, everything is typically updated as new episodes are released, including episode guides who review the events of each episode and point out some interesting facts along the way. This has been seen more recently with Ahsoka, Star Wars: The Bad Batch 3rd season and The Acolyteand its databases were updated with each new episode that premiered.
This, however, was not the case for The Mandalorianat least not in the third season. As it stands today, well over a year and a half since the third season premiered, StarWars. withdatabase to The Mandalorian hasn’t been updated for season three yet – at least not fully. Episode guides only go as far as The Mandalorian season 2 finale, and character stories and biographies, like Din Djarin’s, only go through the events of The Book of Boba Fett. Although briefer biographies and images have been updated and some new elements have been added, the overview is still lacking.
This wouldn’t be so strange if it weren’t for every TV show released after season three being perfectly up to date. Even worse is the fact that they were updated as their respective shows and seasons aired; for some reason, even though it was just a few months before Ahsoka season 1, The Mandalorian the third season did not receive the same treatment. It’s a small thing to point out, certainly, but it still says something.
Star Wars Didn’t Even Celebrate The Mandalorian’s Five-Year Anniversary
The program wasn’t even mentioned that day
What is worse for The Mandalorian fans like me, however, is the fact that Star Wars largely ignored the milestone first anniversary of The Mandalorian: your 5th birthday. On November 12, 2024, The Mandalorian celebrated 5 years since its debut, which introduced the world to Din Djarin and Grogu. This was expected to be a grand celebration for Star Warsespecially because the film based on this TV show, the first live-action show in the franchise, is currently in production. Instead of, Star Wars was silent.
The strangest part about this was that Star Wars international social media accounts such as Star Wars UK and Star Wars Italythere was a compilation video The Mandalorian clips celebrating 5 year anniversary posted. Star Wars The main Facebook page also appeared to post the same video, but when I personally tried to trace it back to the official website Star Wars count there, it was nowhere to be found. The main Star Wars accounts, however, were unable to make any posts on social mediainstead of posting a new test and some promotion for your next TV show, Skeleton Crew.
What’s causing Star Wars’ refusal to explore The Mandalorian?
It’s starting to look intentional
These glazing coincidences The Mandalorianespecially after season 3, are starting to become more and more intentional over time. It seems totally wild to Star Wars not recognizing its most successful TV show, which means there must be a reason behind it. It could be that the reception of season 3, which was certainly more negative than the first two seasons, caused Star Wars want to move away The Mandalorian in many ways, out of fear of continuing this critical discourse. There are, however, other possibilities as well.

If Star Wars is listening closely to the fandom, it could be that they have heard the complaints over time The Mandalorian getting a lot of attention, which certainly would have been a valid argument when the TV show was at its peak – especially when Grogu was involved. It’s also true that Disney and Lucasfilm are currently facing some legal troubles with former The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano (Cara Dune), and they could stay silent about a lot of things related to the TV show for that reason. Either way, it’s definitely getting noticed.
Star Wars Needs to Remember That The Mandalorian Is Still a Big Deal
It’s their biggest sub-franchise
The Mandalorian is easily the most successful subfranchise Star Wars has now, and nothing is going to change that – which means they need to lean into it rather than retreat. While it is obviously important to prioritize future projects over old projects, it still seems strange The Mandalorian is much less recognized than other previous projects. The Mandalorianagain, it’s literally the basis of the next Star Wars film and is currently in production, still Star Wars doesn’t seem to want to talk about it at all.
As someone who calls The Mandalorian your favorite Star Wars project, I know my fellow fans and I are starting to get very frustrated with this. In truth, Unfortunately, I found myself drifting away The Mandalorian more than before because of this silencesince there is absolutely nothing to sustain my enthusiasm during this long period of waiting for The Mandalorian and Grogu. Instead I keep coming back to my second favorite Star Wars project, The bad lotwhich the franchise seems to talk about and promote more now than The Mandalorian.
It would be difficult for anything to replace The Mandalorian in my eyes but there’s no ignoring how tired I’m watching Star Wars has apparently lost faith in his flagship TV show. It’s hard to keep the flame of passion alive when even the franchise itself seems to have extinguished its own flame.as well as promoting new merchandise options and promising more future developments that are still years away. Star Wars really struck gold with The Mandalorian in 2019, and despite the stumbles since then, the franchise would do well to remember that.
