After months of speculation and leaks, the PlayStation 5 Pro was finally revealed. Yesterday, a technical presentation with the PS5’s Lead Architect, Mark Cerny, has been announced, focusing on the PS5 and “innovations in gaming technology.” The description led many to believe the PS5 Pro is on the way, and a further unlisted video titled “PS5 Pro“Said that would be the case.
In the live stream on the official PlayStation YouTube channel, Cerny confirmed that The PS5 Pro would be an improvement over its predecessor due to three main features: an improved CPU, advanced ray tracing and AI-driven upscaling called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). Combined, players can get much bigger visuals at a higher frame rate, with the new console having double the power.
Several games have been enhanced for PS5 Pro
Including TLOU2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, & Horizon Forbidden West
The showcase went on to show exactly how the titles would be improved, with clips from the following titles shown:
- The last of us part 2 remastered
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift apart
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Gran Turismo 7
- Hogwarts legacy
These examples showed how the PS5 Pro compares to both the PS5’s fidelity and performance modes, with the Newer hardware allows much more detail, even in larger areas such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift aparts parade scene, or Marvel’s Spider-Man 2s open world. The overall result, as Cerny pointed out, was “Increased sharpness to the graphics, or smoother and more responsive gameplay.“
