The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of WisdomMount Hebra is an unforgiving and harsh landscape, but the Ice Spikes accessory can make traveling across its icy peaks a little easier. Ice spikes reduce slipping on icy surfaces. With these comfortable shoes, you can easily explore and conquer the final region of the game.
By the time you reach Mount Hebra, you’ll have collected a bunch of useful accessories scattered around. EoV, so you have nothing left to collect. Instead of receiving a reward after completing a side quest, like many other accessories, Ice spikes are hidden inside one of the mini-dungeons of Mount Hebra. To get them, you first need to reach the cave and then clear it by defeating the enemies standing between you and your prize.
Where to find Ice Spikes in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
You will need to use the echo passage to get to the cave entrance.
The cave you will need to enter is located at the base of the snowiest part of Mount Hebra, west of the waterfall. There are several ways to get there, but since Mount Hebra is covered in thick fog, it is impossible to descend from above. This means you’ll have to climb up, or in this case, climb over it.
Climb Mount Hebra from the east side and head towards the waterfall from Conde’s house. Along the way, stop further east to defeat and study the Ice Wizard’s Echo, one of the most useful Echoes in battle you can find. Once you reach the top of the waterfall, use the flying tile to approach the small ledge in front of the cave entrance.
Connected
If you prefer to approach from the south and west, you will need to use Platboom Echo. At this point in the walkthrough, you will be able to summon at least three, and you will need all three to get to the cave. Approach the cave entrance from below, then use as many platbooms as you can to climb up.
Lay one down, let it rise, then add another one that overlaps half of the one you’re currently standing on. Keep doing this until you reach the top of the cave. Having the Frog Ring will make things easier as you can jump straight to the Platboom without having to buff yourself with another Echo.
After about three or so Platboom lifts you should ascend to a rock ledge. Before heading into the cave, use Ignizol or another fire-creating Echo to melt the ice crystal on the left and get one of the many Power Crystals in the game. Once you’ve done this, you’re ready to head into the cave for the Ice Spikes.
Cleaning the Cave
Once you enter the cave, you’ll be faced with a small room full of Level 2 Tektites, which should be fairly easy to defeat. You can use your sword form to take care of them quickly. or use Tri’s Bind ability to let one of your Boarblin or Darknut Echoes take care of them for you. Either way, clear them out and then quickly head to the main room of the cave.
The door to the second room will close behind you when you enter, and will only open again once all the enemies in the room have been defeated. Inside you’ll find some more Level 2 Tektites and some Ice Octos. You can use a swarm of Kiz to take out the Tektike, and then one or two Fire Octos to take on their ice brethren.
Ice Octos are vulnerable to fire, so setting them up and observing their performance is easy.
Once you defeat all the monsters in the room, collect any rupees or drops they may leave behind. Climb to the top of the room where a chest will appear. Inside you will find ice spikes that “Shoes with spikes that dig into the ice. Wearing them helps prevent slipping.“
Why you should buy ice spikes
Ice is annoying and dangerous
Ice Spikes are a lifesaver for those struggling with the icy peaks of Mount Hebra. There’s nothing more annoying than sliding straight into the cold waters of a cave dungeon or into the path of an oncoming projectile, and ice spikes prevent this by giving you a little extra traction in such dangerous situations. Although the description says they “help prevent slipping,” these sleek shoes appear to be completely slip-free. as can be seen in WatermaronYouTube video
If you’re tired of sliding down the slopes of Mount Hebra, spending a few minutes walking through to grab the Ice Spikes is worth it. The hardest part is getting to the cave, but defeating the enemies inside will be relatively easy once you do. Nice to see this The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom provides ways to counteract some of the more annoying mechanics, allowing players to truly enjoy this amazing installment in the franchise.
