The next Court of Thorns and Roses book must deliver on a fight that is 500 years in the making.

The A yard of thorns and roses Books have set the stage for a major account that has been half a millennium in the making and the next book needs to keep that promise. Now that Amarantha is out of the picture, There are no two characters who hate each other more than Rhysand and Tamlin. It’s a beef that goes back centuries, but the two High Fae Lords have more or less kept to their ends of the ring, busy running their own kingdoms and, for the last fifty years, dealing with the Scourge of Amarantha and what happened Under the mountain.

Their hatred runs deep, and at a certain point, it will likely come to blows. So far, no great rabbi has made a move on the other, perhaps because they understood this, as two of A yard of thorns and roses‘ most powerful letters, It would be mutually assured destructionOr because there was no new reason to stop it again – at least, not until the fire. Still, before the Yard of thorns and roses Books wrap up, their long-simmering cold war must be ended one way or the other, whether it’s through a bloody fight or burying the hatchet once and for all.

The next Court of Thorns and Roses book needs to provide on Tamlin vs. Raised

It’s a fight that’s been 500 years in the making

Tamlin and Rhysand’s mutual hatred stems from the only way two people can hate each other so much: they were once close. Their enemy, he honestly deserves, both in the present time and in the past. Now Tamlin hates Rhysand because he feels that Rhysand turned Fire against him and stole her from him. Of course, this is not true; Tamlin is responsible for his own failuresBut he also refused to accept that losing fire was on him and no one else. He had already written three and a half books in resentment and bitterness, and it created a toxic letter in Tamlin.

But the readers know that too That’s not the only bad blood between the two former friends. In short, 500 years ago they each murdered the other’s family. Initially, Rhys saw how Tamlin’s father abused and disregarded him and the two young fae bond. Through Rhys, Tamlin learned about the true power of the Night’s Watch and told his father. Fearing that the night raid would become too strong, Tomlin’s father took Tomlin and his brothers and murdered Rish’s mother and sister, cut off their wings and kept them as trophies.

In fury and grief, Riz and his father retaliated, winning to the Spring Court. Rish murdered Tomlin’s brothers, and then ran up to find that his father had murdered Tomlin’s father, the High Lord of the Spring Court, as well as his mother, even though Rishand made his father promise to leave Tomlin’s mother unharmed. Rhys’ father was bent on killing Tamlin, but as he and Rhys were distracted by fighting each other, Tamlin took advantage of the moment and killed Rhys’ father before running. after that, The hatred between them was deep, understandable.

It’s shocking this fight never happened during the Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy

One would think that it would come to a head over fire

The Yard of thorns and roses Books have dropped pieces of the centuries-long hatred between Rhys and Tamlin, over multiple books. It’s honestly surprising it hasn’t happened yet, Especially in Feyre’s aftermath. Granted, Fayre and Rhys are friends, and there’s nothing Tamlin can do about it now according to Fae code. But it’s honestly surprising that nothing ever went down between Reese and Tamlin before the pairing bond snapped into place; Rish stole Tomlin’s girl after all. Tamlin was never more desperate or furious or broken than after the one-two punch of being tortured under the mountain and then losing fire. It certainly seems like things with Rhys have come to a head now.

on the other hand, It’s probably a good thing Rhysand and Tomlin didn’t come to their long-running fight over fire.. In fact, fire is not the real source of their hatred, she just added to it. The foundation was laid hundreds of years ago, the minute Tamlin and his father murdered Rishand’s mother and sister in such a horrible way. ACOTARThe toxic male Fae culture, especially that of the High Fae, is unforgiving and brutal, but capitulating Rhys’ family and cutting off their wings was particularly horrific. Tomlin later burned the wings as a sign of respect for Rizand’s late mother and sister, but the damage was already more than done. The two of them who fought over fire wouldn’t really clean up the poison, because they still wouldn’t talk about the real reason for their bad blood.

Why a Tamlin and Raisand fight could never happen in ACOTAR

Rhysand is the bigger man and Tamlin is on a redemption ark (probably)

unfortunately, That long-promised fight between the pair of high lords may never actually happen. Now it’s quite clear that Tomlin is going on a redemption arc, if nothing else than because Sarah J. Maas simply didn’t do anything with him for the last three books. At some point, he either needs to become useful to the story again or be killed off. The latter would be a waste, so it looks like it will be the former.

Rhysand has always shown that he is willing to put aside his petty differences and hatred of people to serve a greater purpose.

Raisand isn’t stupid either. Because he hates you, He knows that the coming war will threaten to wipe them all out. If they’re going to win, they’re going to need all the help they can get, especially from a powerful High Lord like Tamlin, and what remaining soldiers he has. Rhysand has always shown that he is willing to put aside his petty differences and hatred of people to serve a greater purpose. If Tamlin is willing to come around and help them, Reasond will put aside his enemies for the High Lord of the Spring Court for the greater good of his people and all faekind. It looks like that’s where it is A yard of thorns and roses is heading. Again, it may be nice to see a disagreement in these ACOTAR Books should be treated with kindness for once rather than by violent attack.
