The future of a major MCU hero seems even more uncertain to me after a major change at Disney+ and no sign of a possible She-Hulk: Lawyer season 2. Dozens of incredible and powerful characters from Marvel Comics have been adapted into live-action in the years since the MCU debuted in 2008 Iron Man. Most recently, Deadpool, Wolverine, and Agatha Harkness have been highlighted in Phase 5 of the MCU, but the success of their respective projects has reminded us that not all of the MCU’s recent heroes have been so lucky.
Marvel Studios has introduced many new heroes to the MCU since the start of the Multiverse Saga, though many still have uncertain futures and have yet to be seen since their first appearances. This includes some of the franchise’s most significant new characters, such as Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, the Eternals, Shuri’s Black Panther, and Echo. One of my favorite new MCU heroes is Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, but She’s also among those who have an uncertain future in the MCU, and it’s only gotten worse.
Disney+’s newest banner change continues to make She-Hulk’s MCU future seem unclear
She-Hulk has been replaced in Marvel’s Disney+ banner
Due to disappointing visual effects and many unfounded “woke” criticisms, She-Hulk: Lawyer didn’t fare as well in its 2022 release as part of Phase 4 of the MCU. Unfortunately, this caused radio silence in the conversation about a possible She-Hulk: Lawyer Season 2, although the show’s legal comedy format is perfect for TV. This made me very worried about She-Hulk’s future in the MCU, and the fact that Jennifer Walters has been replaced in Marvel’s Disney+ banner only added to my concern.
She-Hulk previously stood proudly alongside Loki and behind Yelena Belova in Marvel’s Disney+ banner, but now she’s been replaced by Deadpool in the sequel Deadpool and Wolverine huge success. Of course, Deadpool’s entry into the MCU is an event that deserves to be celebrated, but the fact that it came at the expense and erasure of one of the MCU’s most formidable new heroines is disappointing and concerning.. This just seems to highlight how much Marvel Studios wants to forget about She-Hulk, which is a shame.
I’m really not sure what to expect when it comes to She-Hulk’s MCU future
I want She-Hulk to return to the MCU
Since the end of She-Hulk: Lawyer joked about Jennifer Walters being omitted from the upcoming big-screen MCU films, I’m worried that She-Hulk will actually be overlooked. In Marvel comics, She-Hulk is a core member of the Avengers and one of their most important heroes, so it’s a shame this hasn’t translated to the MCUespecially with a notable talent like Tatiana Maslany in the role. I would love for She-Hulk to return to the MCU, but after these recent updates, I really don’t know if that will actually happen.
Tatiana Maslany stars as Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk in Marvel’s Disney+ TV series She-Hulk: Lawyer. She-Hulk is a half-hour comedy series that tells the story of Jennifer Walters, cousin of Bruce Banner/Hulk. Jennifer is a lawyer who must balance her life with being a portly 6-foot-2. Unlike her cousin, Jennifer is able to manage her transformation at will. With these new powers, Jennifer will head a new superhero division at an opposing law firm while trying to learn what it means to be a hero. Additional cast includes Mark Ruffalo, reprising his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, with Tim Roth joining the cast as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, the villain who originally appeared in The Incredible Hulk film. She-Hulk: Lawyer is part of Phase 4 of the MCU and originally aired in August 2022.
