The original 1968 film (directed by the legendary Norman Jewison) was a masterclass of progressive filmmaking in the late 60s, and even won an Oscar for Best Original Song. Tinseltown came calling three decades later with the release of the 1999 film by John McTiernan, and it proved to be a box-office smash that grossed nearly $125 million (via. Box Office Mojo). That makes Jordan’s upcoming remake a no-brainer, especially with 25 years passing between attempts.
