Endless hours re-formed in Marvel Universe, a team of seven people, each of whom owns one of the Infinity Stones. However, not only does this new lineup feature entirely new members, but it’s also unlike anything Marvel fans have seen from this legacy team before. These members of the Infinity Watch don’t just wield the Infinity Stones, they are the Infinity Stones themselves, as each Gem fuses with its own “host”, imbuing it with unprecedented cosmic power. And now the new Infinity Watch is officially assembled.
IN Avengers Annual 2024 No. 1 by Derek Landy and Salvador Larroca, new infinity watch going for the first time. Their story has been told 2024 Marvel Annual Titlesall of which saw each member of the new Infinity Watch either gain their Infinity Stone powers for the first time or come to terms with their nature. All this time, Thanos is hunting for each participant in order to regain the power of the Infinity Stones.
After failing to retrieve each Stone from its respective owner one by one, Thanos is forced to fight the entirety of Infinity Watch. Avengers Annual 2024 No. 1. Although he briefly gained the upper hand, even Thanos was no match for the raw power of the Infinity Stones and their new Infinity Clocks. Now that Thanos has been defeated and the Infinity Stones are safe, the Infinity Watch have taken to space and have a bright future ahead of them in the Marvel Comics canon.
Who are the new members of Infinity Watch? Composition and powers, explanation
New Infinity Clocks from Marvel Comics: Star, Quantum, Multitude, Overtime, Apex, Colleen Wing and Phil Coulson.
Each member of the Infinity Watch was chosen to have their own Infinity Stone after the Stones individually searched the entire universe to find their ideal host. While one might assume that the Infinity Stones would want proven heroes worthy of such cosmic power to wield them, the Infinity Watch line confirms that this is not entirely the case. Not only do the Infinity Stones cast characters who were once villains (or at least morally ambiguous), some also feature characters who are considered among the weakest in the Marvel Universe.

Two members of Infinity Watch that immediately jump out are Star and Quantum due to their villainous history. Star was introduced as a Captain Marvel villain who wanted nothing more than to kill Carol Danvers and abuse her power however she could. Likewise, Quantum was a henchman of a villainous AI hivemind called “The Assessor” who fought both Spider-Man and Iron Man on multiple occasions.
There are also people like Multitude and Apex who were never “villains” per se, but they definitely did things that were clearly not heroic. Multitude is an android created to study human souls, but this directive soon turned into an obsession. This was proven when Gamora and Mantis approached him and refused to give them access to Drax’s original soul, Arthur Douglas, since he couldn’t let go of something so…Beautiful” Then there’s Apex, who destroyed his entire world after losing control of his god-tier power before becoming a galactic mercenary.
The Infinity Stones also chose human hosts who would otherwise never have had such power. The first was a man named Hector Bautista, who was wrongfully convicted of a murder he didn’t commit, making him perhaps the most random choice for an Infinity Stone out of the group. Phil Coulson was then chosen to lead Infinity Stone, as was Colleen Wing. Both are established heroes in the Marvel Universe, which makes them more understandable than Hector, but they’re still odd choices given their more grounded/street-level stories.
But, strange or not, Star, Quantum, Multiplicity, Overtime, Apex, Colleen Wing and Phil Coulson are members of the new Infinity Watch, and they were chosen by the Infinity Stones themselves.
How were the Infinity Stones even able to choose their owners?
Endless Wars Gerry Duggan and Mike Deodato Jr.
Marvel’s new Infinity Watch formed because the Infinity Stones decided to merge with their host bodies to act as their own protectors/guardians and better serve the universe. But how did the Infinity Stones gain such autonomy? Well, it’s all thanks to the actions of one man during the 2018 Infinity Wars crossover: Adam Warlock.
IN Endless WarsGamora kills Thanos with the power of the Power Stone to eliminate any serious competition as she tried to collect the Infinity Stones for herself. Gamora did this to obtain the piece of her soul locked in the Soul Stone, and her quest led to a number of strange consequences. One of them was Gamora creating a Warp World within the Soul Stone (which was essentially an Amalgam Universe of mixed Marvel characters), which she did after obtaining the Infinity Stones, effectively eliminating the previous Infinity Watch in the process.

And only after Adam Warlock again took possession of the Soul Stone, everything returned to normal. Gamora was punished for her crimes, the physical universe was restored/populated from the Warp World, and the Infinity Watch was rebuilt, but Warlock didn’t stop there. Adam Warlock used the power of the Soul Stone to give each of the Infinity Stones their own soul, thus giving them autonomous consciousness. Each Stone was then fired upon by a designated member of Infinity Watch, including Warlock himself, setting the stage for the formation of an entirely new, entirely different Infinity Watch.
Marvel’s New Infinity Watch Is the Most Powerful Incarnation of the Legacy Team
The first Infinity watch debuted in Warlock and the Infinity Watch Jim Starlin and Angel Medina
While Infinity Watch is the name the Infinity Stone-possessed heroes are going to be moving forward, the current incarnation is nothing like what it originally was. The first Infinity Clock was created by Adam Warlock immediately after the events of Infinity Gauntlet. Warlock created this collective to appease the Living Tribunal, which ruled that the Infinity Stones were too powerful for one person to wield at a time.
So, after Warlock received the Gauntlet in Infinity Gauntlethe renounced this power by order of the Living Tribunal. Thus the Infinity Watch was born, as each member was tasked with protecting one Stone after vowing to abstain from using or collecting them. The original lineup was as follows: Warlock, Gamora, Pip the Troll, Drax, Moondragon, and Thanos. Over time, the composition of Infinity Watch changed until it finally became what is introduced in Infinity Wars: Warlock, Turk Barrett, Black Widow, Star-Lord, Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange.
IN Endless Warsthe more classic incarnation of the legacy Infinity Watch team was dismantled, directly leading to the emergence of a new Infinity Watch made up of members who had actually merged with the Infinity Stones themselves (rather than just holding on to them). This transition was a powerful metamorphosis for the team and proves that the new Infinity Watch is much stronger than any other line.
Indeed, the Infinity Clock has a long history in the Marvel Comics canon, and its latest iteration is unlike anything Marvel fans have seen before. And, what’s most interesting, this is just the beginning of a new one. Endless hoursadventures in Marvel Universe, and only time will tell what will become of them Infinity Stone-powerful heroes.
