Batman BeyondThe futuristic version of Gotham was imagined in live action thanks to a fantastic fan film, more than two decades after the animated show’s conclusion. Written and directed by Michael Yu, Batman Beyond: Year One is a brilliant reimagining of the original show, long after it stopped airing. What the Batman Beyond fan film means for DC
Batman Beyond could be an option for James Gunn’s DCU
Above all, the Batman Beyond fan film proves this version of the character can work in live-action. The original show was beloved and even spawned a highly rated DC Animated Universe film, but audiences often thought it could work as a distinct and original live-action version of Batman. THE Batman Beyond: Year One The fan film proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt, bringing the world to life beautifully while perfectly translating the unique character of Terry McGinnis and his relationship with the elderly Bruce Wayne. All of this could give James Gunn a lot to think about in DCU Chapter One.
Gunn has proven his willingness to do DC stories that break tradition a bit, since Flashlights being a True Detective-style story in the american heartland for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow bringing a newer comic to life. After seeing this fan film, Batman Beyond It could be another way the DCU reinvents the wheel through Batman. While The brave and the bold has already been announced as the Batman of the DCU, a Batman Beyond The live-action film could be developed as an Elseworlds project, with the fan film above proving how well that would work.
Our Take on Batman Beyond: Year One
Batman Beyond: Year One it’s simply stunning and it’s produced at such a high quality that I can’t believe DC hasn’t capitalized on this concept yet. THE Batman Beyond the animated show ended in 2001 and has since gained a strong cult following. Even 20 years later, this incredibly original concept for Batman has yet to be explored in live-action by a Hollywood studio. After Batman Beyondof Year One story, I’m more convinced than ever that a big-budget film based on the series deserves to be made, if only to provide a new take on The Dark Knight.
Batman Beyond is an animated action-adventure television series set twenty years after the events of Batman: The Animated Series.
