You can say goodbye to your LEGO Uncharted and LEGO The Last Of Us dream (probably)

From the first LEGO game LEGO: fun to build Launched in 1995, players have enjoyed the incredible potential that LEGO experiences have to offer. With remakes of players’ favorite films, such as LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and LEGO Batman: The Video Game, they have been able to immerse themselves in their favorite worlds for a long time. As the world of video games only makes this more possible, PlayStation itself LEGO Horizon Adventures takes this potential a step further.

New PlayStation release revealed at the Summer Game Fest presentation in June 2024 LEGO Horizon Adventures, was intended to be a shorter, more family-friendly narrative about his unique Horizon franchise. As the first PlayStation IP to be released on console platforms, on the Nintendo Switch, it’s clear that this experience is designed to be enjoyed by everyone. Now that it’s released to the masses, LEGO Horizon Adventures has a lot of power for the future of LEGO x PlayStation crossovers that may be coming.

LEGO Horizon Adventures didn’t perform well on PlayStation

Steam player peak falls below Concord

Although it looks very promising, LEGO Horizon Adventures’ peak player count sits at just a disappointing 602 on Steam (through SteamDB) and PS4/5 numbers are not available to reveal any potential success. With such poor reception and continually low numbers that seem to only be declining, it seems like PlayStation may have miscalculated the potential to do well here. Perhaps gamers were deterred from purchasing because of its release so close to the Christmas season or because it was dropped close to other big titles like STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, but it is impossible to say.

With two million views on the game’s pre-order trailer (via Playstation YouTube channel) just a month ago, it seems unfortunate that for its true release LEGO Horizon Adventures dropped the ball. Although many may not have known about the release date and have not yet purchased it, its peak player count still remains even lower than PlayStation’s recent failed hero shooter Concordwhich reached just under 700 simultaneous players. As a bold move for PlayStation, especially considering this release also came to PC and Nintendo Switch, unlike most PlayStation titles, it’s a shame it didn’t pay off.

More LEGO X PlayStation games seem unlikely

Say goodbye to LEGO Spider-Man dreams

As the first of its kind, LEGO Horizon Adventures really set the bar for whether future PlayStation exclusives could also have a future as LEGO crossover experiences. With jewelry like Marvel’s Spider-Man, Unknownand The last of us all with incredible potential to be brought into LEGO adventures, a lot could have depended on the success of LEGO Horizon Adventures. But with numbers currently struggling, it seems this has just put the nail in the coffin for more to come.

This does not mean that this is a certainty, as LEGO Horizon Adventures it could still have the potential to increase, especially for younger audiences this Christmas. But without PlayStation’s numbers and Steam’s very low spike in players, it appears that LEGO Horizon Adventures has a long way to go before it can see any real success. Without reaching its true potential, other exclusives may have missed the chance at a LEGO retelling of their own.
