Perhaps one of the biggest elements Metaphor: ReFantazioIn addition to fighting, it’s about developing relationships with your followers. Followers are the backbone of your entire campaign for the throne, and as you bond with them throughout the game, many offer valuable rewards in exchange for your friendship.
[Warning: Major spoilers for Metaphor: ReFantazio]
While you can’t control which followers you unlock first, as each has a designated date to start engaging with them, you can control who you choose to prioritize after that when planning your free time. Since time spent outside of dungeons is so valuable, it may be worth knowing which party members offer the most help, outside of just your own. Metaphor: ReFantazio Archetype.

Gallic
The Fairy Companion
For those familiar with Atlus Person 5Gallica is essentially the Metaphor: ReFantazioIt is equivalent to Morgana. She is one of the first companions with whom the protagonist interacts in the story, remaining by his side at all times, and their bond can only be increased naturally as the story progresses.
Unfortunately, for this reason, her story is quite mundaneas it is linked to the general plot and is impossible not to complete. Fortunately, its benefits are still pretty good, as they include enemy analysis and potentially gaining extra turns in battle, but they’re still not enough to make up for the lack of interesting content associated with its bond.

More
The author
Unlike traditional bonding methods, which mostly include conversations about a single story, More will have you complete tasks for him. Most tasks are fairly easy to do, in a technical sense, as they just consist of reaching a certain level with a certain Archetype, but they can be tedious if they don’t align with what you’re doing.
A quick way to complete this bond and avoid getting stuck with what More wants is to use Hero items that increase an Archetype’s experience.
Furthermore, since More is imprisoned in the Akademia, his story is, again, rather uneventful. Its main purpose is to provide you with valuable tools that you will need throughout the game, including access to Archetypes from the main menu, but your requests can be fulfilled passively, and honestly, they wouldn’t be worth fulfilling if it weren’t for your archetype association.

Eufa
The Priestess Mustari
Eupha is the first on this list who is not only a follower but also a member of the party. This means that although it is impossible to lose it initially, it can be easy to forget to classify it, especially as it is thrown at you so abruptly. Its rewards don’t offer much other than preventing a specific status ailment, which only has value on a case-by-case basis.
Mainly focusing on your faith, you help Eupha care for the sick, which ultimately leads to them saving themselves from being sacrificed by a mad priest who believes they are being punished by God. Although it sounds exciting, it’s not as interesting as it sounds. Additionally, she is the only one with a strange romantic aura towards the end of their bond, which is strange considering Metaphor: ReFantazioIt’s a complete lack of romance.
11
Juná
The singer
Unlike Eupha, you know Junah long before she became a follower in Metaphor: ReFantaziowhich gives him a chance to get to know her before starting to form a friendship after she splits from Louis. Once again, those who are familiar with Person 5 You might even notice some similarities between Junah and Ann’s stories as you get to know each other.
Like Ann, Junah’s story largely follows her struggles to deal with a vain competitor in her field, but with an extra twist. Overall, it seems a bit out of place to follow a seemingly shallow story while other party members are focused on changing the world. However, Junah offers MP recovery after a battle as one of her bonding rewards, so it’s worth at least achieving that rank at the very least.

Catherine
A force to be reckoned with
You begin your bond with Catherina at the beginning Metaphor: ReFantaziobut proceed to fight her several times as she also fights for the throne. You slowly discover that she is doing this to represent Paripus and has nothing against you, which ends up causing her to give up in your favor after defeating her three times.
Since Catherina starts off as an opponent of sorts, their bond is quite enjoyable to follow and their fights are fun. However, this passes quickly once she drops out of the race. From there, the rest of his story boils down to simply helping the Paripus get jobs and live an honorable life, which is enjoyable but not as engaging as the first half of his story.
9
Neuras
The racing pilot
Neuras is a follower who you might expect to be a party member at first glance, but he isn’t. However, that doesn’t mean he’s completely useless to you in battle. In addition to being the operator of your Runner, which allows you to quickly travel across the map and carry out activities during the trip, it also assists in any battle that takes place in the Runner’s deck.
Like More, Neuras’s bond is strongly associated with requests, specifically to find artifacts during his travels. Finding an artifact is quite easy as Gallica warns you when it is in a dungeon, but As for the actual conversations you have with Neuras after his discoveries, they are pretty average, making it difficult to connect with him the same way you do with others.
8
Brigitta
The Ignition Trader
Brigitta’s bond is one of the few that you can almost entirely miss if you don’t explore. She is not connected to the story in any way, nor is she a member of the party, which makes her completely optional. However, it is worth seeking out and completing if you have the time. Your rewards not only include store discounts, but Once you progress enough, she even sends you money from time to time.
Her own story follows that of having the only thing she loves, her dog, taken from her as you help her realize that fighting fire with fire is not the answer. Although her bow reaches a beautiful place by allowing her to open, the real value it has for you is mainly in its rewards.
7
Hulkenberg
The Disgraced Knight
Hulkenberg is the second party member you acquire, and therefore enters the story from the beginning. So it’s hard not to feel attached to it, especially because it takes a long time before you have the option to replace it. Her story is largely linked to that of the Prince and his sense of pride, which you slowly help her realize that she can maintain despite her past mistakes.
Its main reward worth mentioning is that she will eventually unlock the ability to protect you from attacks that trigger your weaknessbut overall, she’s just a really strong ally. She is valuable in combat because she can take hits better than anyone else and her story is honorable to follow and worth prioritizing and completing.
6
Strohl
The Forgotten Nobleman
Strohl is perhaps the most attached you can become to a single follower, if for no other reason he is the first official member of the party. Although it doesn’t offer many rewards other than increasing critical strike chance in certain fights. his story is one of the most detailed and interesting of all his followers.
When you first meet Strohl, you learn all about his destroyed home. With his family and people almost completely wiped out, you help him on the path to regain his title of nobility, help the remaining people of his village, and restore his home. It’s an unoriginal story, but it suits Strohl and is generally satisfying. to see a story you’ve been involved in from the beginning come to an end.
5
Bardon
The ambitious leader
Before Bardon becomes a follower, he is first introduced while recruiting the group for a bounty in the city of Martira. While there, you’ll work with him to eventually uncover the horrific truth behind the deaths in his town, which will lead to him becoming the replacement leader of his town, with a little encouragement on your part.
Although you initially encourage his decision and affirm that he is fit to lead others, you are eventually forced to openly disagree with his methods. This is unlike anything you usually recommend doing with any other follower, but in this case, it is necessary as you build him up until you bring him back to reality. Seeing their evolution throughout their bond is by far one of the most interesting thingsplus its rewards include sending random gifts, making it a must-have on your follower list.
4
Basilio
The test subject
Basilio is the last follower and member of the party in Metaphor: ReFantazio. When you first meet Basilio, he is alongside his brother Fidelio in the service of the game’s main antagonist, Louis. After a series of tragic events, Basilio finally joins their side in the fight. Since you have the most limited time for Basilio, it’s worth prioritizing immediately so you have time to complete the bond.
Despite some mediocre rewards for combat, Basilio is still worth getting to know. Providing deeper insight into the true darkness associated with a society so dependent on Magla, you help Basilio overcome the hideous experiments that were conducted on poor Paripuswhich includes helping him confront a long-suffering survivor who took revenge into his own hands.
3
Maria
The orphan
Maria is one of the most moving stories you will encounter during Metaphor: ReFantazio and it’s doubly special because she remains his only connection to one of the party’s deceased early members, Grius. Maria, his daughter, has a rather simplistic story in which she struggles with feeling unwanted and useless to those around her after the death of her father.
While it may not be as exciting and intense as others, Maria’s bond is filled with heartwarming moments that you can’t help but feel emotionally drawn to. In addition to a beautiful story, Maria also provides valuable resources as rewardsincluding extra EXP gained from battles, skipping time while cooking, and preparing a bonus dish when cooking in Gauntlet Runner.
2
Heismay
The surviving father
Strangely, you initially meet Heismay while hunting him as part of Bardon’s bounty, believing him to be a kidnapper. However, you eventually discover the truth that he was framed and is hiding as he desperately searches for a place to lay his deceased son to rest. After some convincing, he not only becomes her follower but also her party member.
Your bond follows the journey he takes as you help him find the perfect resting place and deal with the fact that he couldn’t save his son. Almost every encounter with Heismay is touchingbringing me to tears each time. This precious story is a must-have among followers, despite its rewards being average compared to others.
1
Alonzo
The final blow
Alonzo is probably the most easily overlooked member of the group, as he, like Brigitta, has no significant connection to the main story nor is he linked to any specific mission. If you happen to miss meeting him initially while in Martira, then you may have difficulty completing his bond if you are forced to go back and talk to him laterwhich would be a great shame.
Alonzo’s bond is a rollercoaster, with him starting out as a seemingly incomplete character and revealing himself to be a kind person seeking justice. After witnessing his mother’s murder and stopping him from taking his own life, Alonzo develops a finishing move that goes so far that it tricks you, the player.. As one of the most chaotic follower stories in Metaphor: ReFantazioand perhaps even any Atlus game, this is undeniably one you can’t miss.
