A Reddit thread shows what happens when real-world logic is applied to the recently released Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket. Today marks the end of the game’s first solo battle event, which gave players the chance to win an ex Lapras, among other special cards. Although the event has ended, the remaining packs will remain for the next 27 days, at which point they will presumably be removed from players’ inboxes.
“They’re worth more if I keep them sealed and sort them?” question bbressman2 in a Reddit thread, alluding to the real-world practice of saving popular packs or cards to preserve their value. Redditor shares screenshot of gift inbox where they had stored more than five event reward packs. Virtual collectors took advantage of the comments to start a discussion about the game’s packs as if they actually existed in the real world, with hilarious results.
Fans have fun discussing Pokémon TCG Pocket Packs as their real-world equivalents
Pull rates and booster pack conditions are playfully investigated
The Reddit thread started by bbressman2 is full of other people participating and acting as if the packages exist in the real world. Some fans criticize the condition of the packaging, noting that some have crooked corners or creases that could devalue them. DragonflyNotable3 puts an end to the excitement, jokingly stating that the Redditor may have been tricked: “It seemed sealed again, sorry.“
Several other Redditors claim that the value of the packs will decrease because their attraction rate is terrible. “All Mankey promotions, pass,” it says Maximum Extension4951while Brikanbones states: “All Clefairys. To spend.“Some recommend weighing the phone to get an idea of what’s in the packaging and help determine whether to open it, while others absurdly suggest sending the entire phone to be evaluated, with the cards in it.
Pokémon TCG Pocket event makes getting Chase card frustrating
Opening more packs does not affect the chances of winning Lapras
Although most boosters in TCG Pocket must be opened as soon as selected; Special packs won from events are sent to players’ inboxes. Each event pack contains one card, with most players hoping to get the event’s highlight card, Lapras ex. However, you are much more likely to get a special promotion stamped Mankey, Pikachu, Clefairy or even the rarest holographic Butterfree than the Lapras.
Players were frustrated by this event, with anecdotes being shared about the retirement of large numbers of Mankeys and Clefairys, but no Lapras exes. These odds may work with real-world packs, but players who are used to how gachas work in other apps have called for overhauls to the system. If the Pokemon The company listens and then future solo battle events in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket may include a “guaranteed pull” after a certain number of attempts, as other apps do.
