Smile 2 Never Resolved a Major Plot That Even Skye Riley Had a Question About

Warning: contains SPOILERS for Smile 2!

Smile 2 features a lot of narrative beats, and while the film is quite tight, it never resolved a major plot that even Skye Riley had doubts about. The various twists and turns Smile 2 causes viewers to constantly reevaluate what they are told, with the effects of the Smiling Curse making Skye Riley an unreliable narrator. However, one story is left completely unanswered at the end of Smile 2without any twists addressing this issue.

Smile 2 continues the story of the original Smile in a whole new way, with the film focusing on a new character named Skye Riley. After receiving the Smiling Curse from a drug dealerSkye has to deal with the horrific events that haunt her while still balancing her career as a world-famous pop star. Despite being constantly involved in violence, visions, and lies, Skye manages to cover her tracks pretty well, with the exception of one major incident.

Smile 2 never reveals whether Skye’s vomit was discovered at Lewis’ death scene

Even though she left it there

The Smile Curse passes to its next victim if someone with the Smile Curse dies in front of them, with the Smile Entity causing its victims to end their own lives to spread. This happens to Skye Riley at the beginning of the events of Smile 2with a drug dealer named Lewis hitting his head with a weight in front of Skye.

This is obviously scary, with Skye so scared that she throws up in Lewis’ apartment. She then escapes, unknowingly having contracted the Smiling Curse from seeing Lewis’ death. Although she does not return to Lewis’s apartment, Smile 2 never reveals whether authorities found her vomit at the scene of Lewis’ death, something that would have gotten her into big trouble.

Skye’s vomiting would make her a suspect in Lewis’ death

Meaning the police would be after her

After leaving the scene of Lewis’ death, Skye Riley searches Google, trying to see if the vomit contains DNA. Vomit actually contains DNAand since authorities wouldn’t believe Lewis hit himself in the skull, the fact that Skye left some in her apartment would make her a major suspect.

Despite Smile 2 setting this up as a major storyline, the investigation into Lewis’ death is never brought back, with the film being more focused on Skye’s experience with the Smile Entity. Authorities would certainly have seen the pile of vomit left at the scene of Lewis’ death, but it’s possible they didn’t track it down before Skye Riley’s death at the end of Smile 2.
