Warning! This article contains spoilers for The Perfect Couple!I was happily surprised at how much I enjoyed watching Netflix The perfect couple Show, like mine Expectations were quite low given the murder mystery’s 61% Rotten Tomatoes score. with The perfect couples all-star cast including names like Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning and Meghann Fahy, I knew it wasn’t a show I could pass up. I’m typically a bigger fan of the darker, more dramatic takes on the genre in the television realm exemplified by HBO’s true detective, More from EasttownAnd sharp objectsBut I was hoping it might help scratch the satirical murder mystery itch after Show How The White Lotus.
The perfect couple did not immerse itself in satirical elements in the same earnest way as The White LotusBut certainly not as dark and brooding as HBO’s acclaimed crime genre fare. Ultimately, the show was quite ridiculous, with every seemingly dark and dramatic twist and turn being played in a different tone by each actor – most entertaining in The perfect couples ending and real killer reveal. Still, that seems to be the point. It’s a fun murder mystery that embellishes itself while dabbling in some darker themes and humorous dynamicsWhich should warrant a higher score than 61% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Perfect Couple is a really entertaining murder mystery despite its 61% Rotten Tomatoes score
The Perfect Couple is an easy-to-watch, hilarious murder mystery dramedy
During Hurricane Francine in New Orleans, I was without power or Wi-Fi for a few days, so I made sure I had a TV show downloaded before the storm hit me. I chose The perfect coupleWhat was trending at number one on Netflix, but was something I probably wouldn’t have had the time to watch without The Storm Keep Me Home. I haven’t been impressed with Netflix’s recent slate of murder mystery shows, and The perfect couples 61% Rotten tomatoes Score suggested it’s not a must-watch. To my surprise, I watched the entire show in just two sittings.

If you go in The perfect couple With the expectation that you won’t get a hard-hitting, emotional family murder mystery, it’s a much more enjoyable viewing experience. The perfect couple Keeps audiences guessing by revealing that one of the Winburys may have killed Merritt, and each of them has some motivation after hearing that she is pregnant with Thug’s baby. It’s effective at what it sets out to do: create an intriguing murder mystery with a flawed, misguided, exaggeratedly ignorant wealthy family. With very few characters that actually have redeeming qualities.
of course, The perfect couple Is not a perfect murder mystery. There are some unnecessary twists that are simply used for red herrings, are easy to find out long before the truth is revealed, or create too many more mysteries than the show requires. For example, I picked up on the fact that Broderick was related to Greer before it was confirmed that he was her brother. They are two of the only British characters in the show (although Kidman’s accent is hard to pin down), Greer did not need to be involved with criminal activities in Turkey, and there were no hints that she could be hiding an affair.

yet, The ridiculousness of everything makes it more fun to see how the unfolding of the truth plays out with the characters In the show. The revelation that Greer secretly had a brother all along is made to be a nonchalant revelation that her sons barely react to. All this leads to the arguably hilarious moment when Merritt’s real killer is finally revealed, and it turns out that Thomas’ pregnant wife Abby killed her because she needed access to the trust fund money soon – not in another 18 years with a man she You really like it already.
If the show is watched and appreciated under an objective lens, its entertainment level and value skyrocket.
Dakota Fanning’s Abby screams when she’s caught and says she can’t go to jail because she’s pregnant, repeating that The perfect couple Wasn’t a TV show taking itself too seriously. of the lovely absurdity of The perfect couples opening credits dance scene to the increasingly ridiculous twists, the show establishes what it is trying to be very early on – even if the tone changes from scene to scene. It seems like The perfect couple Unfold to become an unintentional comedy, so if the show is watched and appreciated under an unsarcastic lens, its entertainment level and value skyrocket.
Why the reviews of the perfect couple are so mixed
Critics are divided over the silliness and effective messaging of the show
While a 61% rating indicates a positive score on Rotten Tomatoes, it still falls in the range that suggests a mixed response from critics. Meanwhile, The perfect coupleThe audience score so far is 69%, which isn’t much better. While The perfect coupleDetailed reviews vary in how effective the show is in executing its genre and many twists, I’m inclined to agree with the critics who praise the show for not necessarily a genius, thought-provoking story, but rather a fun source of entertainment with actors You like, really captivating mysteries over all six episodes, and characters you love to hate.

With only six episodes, The perfect couple Does a great job of keeping audiences intrigued with its twists, regardless of how predictable some may be. What’s not so predictable is the identity of the real killer, and that’s the truly compelling part of the show that will keep audiences pressing “play next episode” on Netflix. Maybe The perfect couple It doesn’t deserve a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, however I’m surprised reviews are still so mixed for a show that clearly reveals itself to be an easy-to-watch, soapy, all-star cast-led whodunit dramedy.. It’s a fun show to watch, and sometimes that’s enough.
