Batman may have the best contingency plan against magic of any DC hero

NOTICE! Spoilers for Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #33Batman is famous for having an oversupply of contingency plans, ensuring that it is prepared for any and all dangers that come its way. The Dark Knight has now revealed yet another contingency, and this one is impressive enough to overcome powerful magic, allowing Batman to overcome a Darkseid-level villain.

The preview for Batman / Superman: the best in the world #33 by Mark Waid, Adrián Gutiérrez, Tamra Bonvillain, and Steve Wands finds the Justice League in a dark place. Their dangerous battle with Eclipso, a threat worse than Darkseid, has reached what appears to be a tragic conclusion as they are encased in diamond. However, not everything is as hopeless as it seems for DC’s heroes.

Robin arrives on the scene to comfort the distraught Mona Bennett and says with certainty that “Batman always has a plan.” Dick then reveals a mysterious amulet and reveals the contingency Batman created to defend the Justice League against Eclipso.

Batman’s new contingency plan against magic saves the Justice League

With Robin’s help, Batman successfully overcomes Eclipso

Comic art: Batman thinks a lot with his hand on his chin.

At the beginning of this issue, Eclipso became more powerful than Darkseid by taking control of Dr. Bruce Gordon. He tries to possess the Justice League as well, but when the heroes manage to dodge his magic, he turns them into diamonds. Fortunately, as Robin explains, Batman assumed that Eclipso would attack them with some form of magic and instructed Doctor Doom to entrust the amulet to Robin.. This amulet is charged with countermagic that Robin uses to free the heroes. The Justice League is broken from the diamond, culminating in one of Batman’s most unbelievable victories to date.

Batman’s contingency plans are essential for him to be on the same level as his fellow heroes. Since he is a human beneath the cowl, Batman has no superpowers of his own and is therefore more naturally vulnerable to magic than others in the Justice League. This weakness is on full display in Batman / Superman: the best in the world #32, when he falls victim to Eclipso’s mind control and only returns to normal when Doctor Doom uses his love for Robin to get him out of that situation. Therefore, That an ordinary human can overcome a magical being like Eclipso is a testament to Batman’s tactical genius.

Our take on Batman defeating Darkseid-level enemies with his strategic mind

Batman’s Contingencies are useful for the Justice League

The most powerful enemies in the DC Universe don’t stand a chance against Batman due to his strategic skill. Over the years, Batman has cultivated countless elaborate schemes, all stemming from his planning for every possible outcome in a fight. Although these plans have sometimes backfired, as when his anti-Justice League contingency fell into enemy hands, they usually serve noble purposes in the end that justify the means. There is no limit to what Batman can accomplish by applying his quick thinking and experience, and even Darkseid himself must be wary of Bruce Wayne’s many contingencies now that he has conquered magic.
