Warning: Contains spoilers for Bleach: A Thousand Year Blood War.One of the biggest reasons Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War received so much praise from fans and critics is undoubtedly the original content set. Almost every episode expanded on character motivations and world-building to flesh out the manga’s originally sparse content, and this did a lot to bring Bleach back to the forefront of the anime community.
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War it also greatly expanded the manga through its fight scenes. The anime expanded on some of the manga’s shorter fights and created entirely new fights to make up for missed opportunities in the manga and for the latter Bleach: Thousand Year Blood WarThe last original fight of 20 years resulted in a rematch. As with the previous fights, this one did a great job of fleshing out the story and cast, and continues to show why the anime has been a great addition to the Bleach franchise.
Bleach: A Thousand Year Blood War finally gives fans a Renji vs. Uryu’s Revenge
When Renji and Byakuya first appeared in Bleach to take Rukia back to Soul Society at the end of the Substitute Soul Reaper arc, Uryu attempted to fight them, only for Renji to defeat Uryu in a single attack, without even having to use his Shikai. Renji and Uryu never interacted again until after Renji officially became an ally and main character, and they barely interacted in the manga’s final arc, but in a surprise twist, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War part 3, episode 7 had Renji and Uryu fighting for the first time in 20 years.
The Bleach anime gives Renji the respect the manga never did
Bleach: Bloody Thousand-Year War Makes Renji One of Its Most Powerful Fighters
Bleach giving Renji a new fight with Uryu was great to see, largely thanks to how amazing it made Renji look. For starters, while the manga didn’t do much to showcase Renji’s new Bankai abilities, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War part 3, episode 7 perfectly showcased the power and versatility of Renji’s Bankaiwith him displaying abilities such as manifesting skeletal hands and even more dynamic fire-based powers. All of this added a lot more variety to Renji’s skill set, and it was great to see after the manga did so little with his new Bankai.
More selling point was how powerful the anime made Renji. Not only did Renji force Uryu to use his Vollsterndich, but even with that, Renji stood his ground against Uryu for most of the fight, and just like Ichigo’s original anime fight with Uryu, Renji was strong enough to defeat Uryu and only held back because he was hesitant to kill someone who was supposed to be his friend.. Renji has an infamous fight history, and while it was another loss, it’s great that it happened because he let it happen, not because he wasn’t capable.
Everything good about Renji’s performance against Uryu, of course, was perfectly complemented by the outstanding quality of the episode. If the point of the fight was to give Renji a well-deserved display of power, then she needed to look her best, and by all means, Renji and Uryu’s fight in Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War was filled with incredible animation and incredible direction that excellently emphasized how powerful Renji was supposed to be. It all came together for one of the best fights in the anime to date, and coming from Renji, of all people, made it even better.
Renji and Uryu’s big fight remains one of Bleach’s biggest themes
Something that also made Renju and Uryu’s fight stand out was how well it fit into the broader themes of Bleachthe story. As previously stated, Renji could have defeated Uryu if he hadn’t held back against him, just as Ichigo failed to kill Uryu in their fight. Both cases directly contrast Uryu abandoning his friends to join leagues with Yhwach, so with that in mind, Renji losing to Uryu in Bleach: Blood of a Thousand Years part 3, episode 7, why he couldn’t kill him, emphasizes how important the power of friendship is to Bleachthe story.
BleachThe themes of friendship, of course, played an important role in the manga’s final confrontations. Not only was Yhwach defeated thanks to Ichigo’s work with others, but when Uryu decided to put his trust in his friends again, his decision directly contrasts Haschwalth’s depression over killing Bazz-B for Yhwach’s cause. Bleach: Thousand Year Blood Warthe most recent fights show how strong the friendship will be in the final actand if there are more fights like Renji and Uryu’s that contribute to this, then Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War it will be better for it.
