Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 7 Highlights the One Lesson He Refuses to Learn (Again)

Notice! Spoilers ahead for Chicago PD season 12, episode 7.After seven episodes, Chicago Police season 12 reinforces the continually ignored lesson that could save the series. A Chicago police procedural series follows Hank Voight’s Intelligence as they deal with especially sensitive cases. The team has been effective in its work despite the numerous changes it has undergone in recent years, including the disappointing departures of Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton. That said, although the group continues to excel at its work, it’s no secret that Chicago Police suffered a significant drop in ratings in recent memory.

In the grand scheme of things, all of One Chicago’s shows have suffered declining ratings in recent years. All three main series, Chicago Fire, Chicago Policeand Chicago Middlehowever, they remain popular, so the trend isn’t exactly that alarming yet. However, there is something to be said about the police procedural situation, specifically, considering that, among your peers, Chicago Police has the lowest ratings. Admittedly, other factors contribute to this problem, but it’s frustrating when the show can easily fix one of its biggest flaws, which could rejuvenate its fanbase after back-to-back cast changes.

Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 7 Involves All Intelligence Members

Everyone does something in search of Glory

In Chicago Police Season 12, Episode 7, “Contrition,” the team returns and revisits one of their most complicated cases from last year. Dante Torres’ relationship with Glória, the wife of a cartel leader, is about to be revealed, when Intelligence receives a tip about a new movement in the drug smuggling business that she now runs. Since Gloria knows almost all of the veteran members of Voight’s team, they decide to send their newest recruit, Kiana Cook, undercover. Although she’s great at the job, she gets done, with the ride ending with a cliffhanger about her fate.

At its core, “Contrition” is a Torres-centric episode. The original plot of Chicago Police season 11 had him going undercover to infiltrate the cartel, which resulted in his involvement with Gloria. Newly promoted Kim Burgess is also heavily involved, considering she knew about his colleague’s personal relationship with the informant. That being said, Chicago Police Season 12, Episode 7 does a good job of giving everyone something to doeven Voight, who was still in charge of planning the operation.

Chicago PD is at its best when utilizing its ensemble (but won’t do so regularly)

The intelligence unit is a team

Technically, Chicago Police it is a series of sets. Even though Voight is the leader of Intelligence, the show gives all of its characters their respective time in the spotlight, which is really great. One of the big problems with shows that have multiple protagonists is that they tend to forget about the other players. This way, One Chicago ensures that every member of Voight’s team has compelling stories. The problem with this, however, is the way Chicago Police implements this approach.

Chicago PD season 12, episode 7 proves that it can balance things out by continuing to tackle character-centric outings without sidelining the rest of its characters.

Character-centric episodes in Chicago Police are usually isolating because they usually only focus on a single character, with little to no involvement from the rest of the cast. Chicago Police Season 12, Episode 7 proves it can balance things out, continuing to tackle character-centric outings without sidelining the rest of its characters. This is also a great way to rejuvenate your fan base, as it means that every week Intelligence as a whole will be at stake. Viewers won’t have to skip certain episodes if they’re not particularly invested in the plot.

Why the Chicago Police Department Can’t Always Do Stories Together

It is part of Wolf Entertainment’s cost-cutting measures

Collage of characters from Chicago Fire, PD and Med.

This character-centered approach to storytelling for Chicago Police it probably has something to do with Wolf Entertainment’s cost-cutting measures. In a report of DeadlineCast members of Dick Wolf shows have been asked to reduce the number of episodes they appear in. That’s why Chicago Fire some characters have been missing for a few weeks without any clear explanationlike Christopher Hermann and Kylie Estevez. That said, because Chicago Police It has a much smaller set, with just one player missing, it’s easy to notice and has a huge impact on its narrative.

At this point, however, it is arguably better to Chicago Police just follow Chicago Firesteps when dealing with character absences. This way, it ensures that every member of Intelligence (or those involved) has something to do every week. It’s time for the police procedural to abandon its limiting approach to narrative and make full use of its ensemble. It’s missing so many narratives without doing this.
