Outlander Season 7 Character’s Return Hints at Possible Finale Twist

Outlander season 7 part 2 is bringing back one of its previous characters, teasing the perfect opportunity for a massive finale. This next chapter of the Starz series will be the final step before Claire and Jamie’s story comes to an end in Season 8, but that doesn’t mean that Outlander is done by shocking the audience. In fact, the potential for surprises is even greater for the next season and a half since Outlander Diana Gabaldon’s book series has not yet been completed. Starz writers decide on their own how the story will end, and it can be quite shocking.

Going into the second half of Outlanderthe story still lines up with Gabaldon’s An echo in the bone and Written in my own heart’s blood. It has been revealed that Claire and Jamie will successfully arrive in Scotland, but Claire will be called back to the American colonies to perform her duties as a surgeon. Meanwhile, Roger and Brianna will still be desperately searching for their kidnapped son, Jemmy. Believing he was carried through the stones and through time, Roger will try to follow himself. However, it will end at a new point in the storya point that is different from the time travelers normally disembark Outlander. Still, there will be some familiar faces.

The trailer for Outlander season 7 revealed that tragic lovers Geillis Duncan and Dougal MacKenzie will return. The latter is briefly seen kissing his lady’s hand, which is undoubtedly intriguing since both characters died in previous seasons. They are probably present because of Roger’s time travel adventure – he also met his ancestors in the book An echo in the bone and The blood of my own heart. It’s unclear exactly how much time Roger will spend with these characters, and it’s not yet entirely certain where in the story he’ll arrive. Without considering, Geillis getting involved in Outlander may not bode well for Roger.

Although she is a fan-favorite character, Geillis has always been a troublemaker. She’s a time traveler from the 20th century, like Roger, Brianna, and Claire, but she was much more destructive during her journey than the rest. The reason Geillis was killed is because Claire had no choice but to stop her from traveling back in time to murder Brianna. Some changes to the canonical tale would be necessary, but at this point, anything goes.

Geillis certainly died in Claire and Jamie’s time – Claire even saw the woman’s ancient bones in the 20th century. However, since Geillis is a time traveler who still exists at certain times, it could be argued that she could never truly be gone for good. Roger traveling to a new time indicates that any other time traveler could do the same. The Geillis that Roger knows Outlander Season 7 Part 2 could technically use the stones to travel to the time of the American Revolution and again become a significant pain for Claire and Jamie. Or, she could return to the 20th century and try to do what her future self couldn’t: kill Brianna.

For this character to return as a villain in Claire or Brianna’s time would certainly be a huge twist, especially since that’s not what happens in the Outlander books. However, the novels themselves support the idea that past travelers who die in the future can travel to new times, thus making their deaths redundant. Of course, this mechanic was not used in this way for any twists with primary characters. However, the idea opens up a variety of possibilities regarding the Outlander End of the TV show this can be quite exciting to watch.
