Because Marvel Cinematic Universe began to explore the multiverse in Avengers: EndgameSeveral characters left Earth-616, and others from alternate realities took their place. Recent Marvel Studios projects such as Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania And Miraclesamong others, directly explored the concept of the multiverse. In addition to introducing a number of vibrant and complex alternate worlds, it also marked the debut of multiverse variants of some of the MCU’s most popular heroes.
Although traveling between these alternate universes is considered incredibly dangerous, several heroes and villains have already crossed the border between realities. This allowed multiversal variants to enter the MCU’s Earth-616, the Sacred Timeline, either temporarily or permanently, while prominent characters from Earth-616 also ended up in alternate worlds. Only a few characters have made this step permanently, but the number is expected to increase as the MCU Multiverse saga continues to evolve.

Joined Earth-616: Avengers: Gamora from Endgame.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
The first multiverse variant to permanently join the main Earth-616 MCU timeline was Zoe Saldaña’s 2014 version of Gamora. The original Gamora was sacrificed by Thanos in exchange for the Soul Stone in Avengers: Infinity Warbut Nebula’s interception in 2014 during the Avengers time heist Final allowed the past version of Gamora to travel to Earth-616. This Gamora never met Peter Quill or formed the Guardians of the Galaxy, meaning she’s still hardened, rough, and deadly..

2023s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 it was revealed that this version of Gamora had indeed remained on Earth-616, surviving despite the rest of Thanos’ army being killed by Tony Stark during the Battle of Earth. However, instead of reuniting with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora found a new family with the Ravagers.which ultimately led to her teaming up with the Guardians to fight the High Evolutionary. This allowed both Gamora and the Guardians to receive some closure, although the implications of this option remaining in the MCU remain to be seen.

Left Earth-616: Adrian Toomes’ Vulture
Morbius (2022)
It’s often confusing when other live-action Marvel franchises try to make connections to the MCU. This was very clear in the final minutes of 2022. Morbiusthe third film in the Spider-Man universe from Sony, as Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton), aka the MCU’s Vulture, has become embroiled in the SBU.. This appears to have been due to Doctor Strange’s memory erasing spell cast at the end Spider-Man: No Way Homewhich allowed the multiverse visitors of Earth-616 to return to their realities, but even Michael Keaton doesn’t understand why Vulture moved the realities (via Cheerful, sad, confused).
No, I have no idea. Nobody. Zero. I mean, they said, “Okay”… and they couldn’t even explain it. They said, “Look, let me just tell you,” and I said, “I really don’t quite understand what you’re talking about, or even who some of these people are,” and he said, “Okay, let me explain.” , but it was difficult because apparently they were looking down the road…
Vulture’s appearance in Morbius the post-credits scene seemed to set up the Sinister Six team for SBU, but no other work was done to create this team of supervillains. Adrian Toomes was a brilliant villain that Tom Holland included in his first solo film as MCU Peter Parker, 2017. Spider-Man: Homecomingso it was a shame that he was completely removed from the MCU. Let’s hope there’s a chance to see him return in full force before the end of Marvel Studios’ Multiverse saga.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

Joined Earth-616: Kang the Conqueror
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Several variants of Jonathan Major’s Kang the Conqueror have already been seen in the MCU, but only one of them was on Earth-616, and that iteration, the Conqueror himself, did not actually originate from the MCU’s Sacred Timeline. After Sylvie killed He Who Remains Loki Season 1, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania revealed that a more violent version of Kang was exiled to the quantum world of Earth-616. Left Earth-616: Vagabond by Aaron Davis
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2023)

Aaron Davis appears in Returning home The existence of Miles Morales in the MCU has begun to be teased, but the young Spider-Man has yet to appear. Aaron Davis was voiced by Mahershala Ali in 2018. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Concept art from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has confirmed that this version of Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis is the MCU’s Prowler. Since he was waiting to return home at the Spider Society’s base of operations, it was possible that in the future Spider-Man MCU films may feature Glover’s Hobo as an antagonist. This could open the door for Miles Morales to finally appear, which would pay off the seven-year MCU tease.and may set the stage perfectly for 2027. Avengers: Secret Wars.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
While Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock moved from Sony’s Spider-Man universe to the MCU only temporarily. Venom: Let There Be Carnage In the post-credits scene, the story of the Venom Symbiote itself is different. Brock was dragged to Earth-616 by Doctor Strange’s original failed spell. Spider-Man: No way homeand returned home thanks to Strange’s memory erasing spell.. However, a piece of the Venom Symbiote remained in the Mexican bar where Brock remained throughout his time in the MCU.

The fact that part of Venom remained in the MCU while Eddie Brock returned to SBU means that the stage could be perfectly set for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to get his black alien suit from Marvel Comics. Secret Wars 1984 event. It’s possible that Venom could become a true Spider-Man villain in the future MCU, although it has also been speculated that the upcoming Sony film Venom: The Last Dance will remove this piece of Venom from the MCU. It’s unclear what the future holds, but for now, Venom is on Earth-616.

Left Earth-616: Steve Rogers’ Captain America
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
One of the most surprising characters to leave the main MCU timeline is Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), aka the first Captain America. Rogers was the cornerstone of the MCU’s Infinity Saga, but he always struggled with being a man out of time and losing the chance to be with the love of his life, Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter. After helping defeat Thanos in Avengers: EndgameSteve Rogers intended to return the Infinity Stones within the appropriate time frame, but Instead of returning home, he decided to go into an alternate reality past with Carter..
Steve Rogers did return to Earth-616 as an older man to pass on the shield and mantle of Captain America to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson.but his whereabouts after this scene are unclear. It’s possible he stayed on Earth-616, but there’s also a chance he returned to the timeline he most likely considers home. It was beautiful and cathartic, if a little heartbreaking, to see Steve Rogers finally get his happy ending. Avengers: Endgamealthough Chris Evans has since returned to the MCU as Johnny Storm and is rumored to appear again in Phase Six.

It can be argued that the fact that Earth-616 is the final resting place of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Strange Protector. also has significance, especially after the strange dream 616 took over his body and became a puppet within him. Several characters have temporarily left the MCU’s Earth-616.
Many of the MCU’s most famous heroes have visited other timelines
Far more heroes from the multiverse went to MCU Earth-616 than left it, but there were a few characters hailing from the Sacred Timeline who ventured into alternate realities before returning. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness I saw Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch doing it. Strange traveled through multiple alternate universes with America Chavez before ending up on Earth-838 and Strange Sinister’s reality.while Scarlet Witch was given a glimpse of Earth-838 by Chavez, ending her violent rampage across the multiverse.
