Prime Video Cross spoilers ahead!
At the end of Cross Season 1, Episode 7, Ed Ramsey injects himself with a mysterious drug that has major plot implications. Based on the books by James Patterson, the first season has detective Alex Cross facing Cross‘ serial killer called The Fanboy, who was created for the show rather than taken from the source material. The character is obsessed with serial killers, idolizing them to the point of choosing victims who could be transformed to look like the killers.
After changing their appearance to match the original, Ramsey feeds them the serial killer’s last meal and kills them in the same way the original person died. His most recent victim is Shannon, a woman he wants to be his Aileen Wuornos. Cross. Happily, Alex Cross discovers that Ed Ramsey is Fanboy and takes action to stop the killer. This leads to a climactic moment in episode 7 of Cross, where Ed Ramsey injects himself with a drug rather than let himself be arrested.
Ed Ramsey injects himself with a drug that slows his heart rate until it is undetectable
It’s unclear what drug he used, but it’s likely a fictional substance.
In Cross episode 7, Ed Ramsey injects himself with a drug to fake his own death so he can continue his reign of terror. The medication slowed his heart rate to the point where it was undetectable and caused him to lose consciousness. The program does not directly confirm the specific substance and it appears that the medicine used may not exist in real life.
Drugs such as adenosine can temporarily stop the heart; however, they don’t last long enough for Alex to check his pulse, call the police, the police arrive, and Ed Ramsey is transported to the morgue. More likely, Ed Ramsey took a fictional drug given to him by the plastic surgeon who knowingly supports his murderous actions.
What would Ed Ramsey give Shannon to kill her in the hospital
Ed Ramsey wanted to finish killing Shannon with the same lethal injection method that Aileen Wuornos tried
At the end of Cross In the first season, Ed Ramsey is stopped by Alex Cross while he is in Shannon’s hospital room about to inject a drug into her IV. He wanted to finish the process of killing her the same way Aileen Wuornos died. The famous serial killer was first injected with sodium thiopental, a sedative; pancuronium bromide, a muscle paralyzing drug; and potassium chloride, which stops the heart (via Death Penalty Information Center).
Did Ed Ramsey force Shannon to die by lethal injection in Crosshe would not have been able to replicate death in a fundamental way.
As Ed finished the first two steps before the ceremony was interrupted, he would inject her with potassium chloride intravenouslywhich would have killed her quickly. However, Ed Ramsey’s plan had a major flaw that he did not foresee and that would have ruined his plan to kill her in the same way as Wuornos. The serial killer went to execution willingly (via ABC News). Did Ed Ramsey force Shannon to die by lethal injection in Crosshe would not have been able to replicate death in a fundamental way.
