Treyarch decided to bring legacy 2XP tokens back to BO6 after player backlash, with one important caveat

Treyarch reported that it was removing Legacy 2XP tokens from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, only to decide to bring them back after the player’s reaction. Some fans stocked up on Legacy XP tokens to get a head start on Season 1 of BO6but Treyarch said this unbalanced and caused instability. To restore this balance, they removed the use of 2XP tokens from the title entirely.

In a recent official X post Treyarch account, the developers claim that at the beginning of the first season of Black Ops 6, an interface bug allowed players access to Legacy XP tokens. Because this bug “introduced some potential risk to the game’s stability,” the developers fixed it as quickly as possible. Still, this decision left fans wondering what happened and why they were taken away.

Legacy XP tokens removed from BO6 due to “instability”

Fans question what instability these tokens could bring

As soon as Treyarch released this information, fans were excited to hear that the tokens would be making a comeback, although they were still unsure what exactly the risk factors for instability were. While the tokens are available again, there is a caveat to using them for now, as Treyarch is working on a fix to bring them back “correctly” in a future update.

In the meantime, players can activate any legacy XP tokens in Warzone. Any tokens applied to Warzone will also apply to Black Ops 6 if you switch titles or modes.

Although this is not the worst case scenario, it is interesting for players to use War zone to activate XP tokens, rather than just accessing them the same way they did in Black Ops 6. Treyarch mentioned that it will provide more information on the status of its “future upgrade” for Legacy tokens next week, but for now, fans are happy that they can use their hard-earned tokens in some way, shape or form.

Our take: Is this enough to satisfy players after the first season nerfed several features?

Nerfed or non-working assault rifles and perks cause mass uproar

a mangler in black ops 6

While this fix for the Legacy tokens was considered a victory by fans and even brought back some players who resigned from the title due to the removal of the tokens, one can only wonder if this fix will be enough. Several other issues are being brought to light by fans, and they all appear to have occurred after the release of Season 1. Assault rifles appear to have been nerfed, according to players, as their once invincible equipment is now receiving more bullets to wreak havoc on the opposition. Will Judd, aka @wsjudd.bsky.socialon the BSKY app, posted about the known issues on November 14, with many agreeing with the post.

While AR nerfs were a hot topic of conversation, the Ghost perk becoming non-functional and unequippable also raised eyebrows. While Treyarch appears to be listening to fan feedback and making changes based on player needs, is this enough to bring back those who have encountered numerous bugs and issues with the title since Season 1 launched? Only time will tell as developers release more information about bug fixes, patches, and workarounds for the well-known issues in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
