After two successful films Ted returned in his own TV series on Peacock, and now the foul-mouthed teddy bear is back for a second season. Based on the aforementioned films from comedy hit maker Seth MacFarlane, the Ted The TV show serves as a prequel to the films in which audiences follow teenager John and his best friend Ted as they try to navigate high school together. As a streaming exclusive, the series can recreate the raunchy tone and gross-out humor that made the films so popular.

Initial reaction to Ted the first season was surprisingly mixed, with some channels like The Daily Beast praising the show’s old school humor, while The Hollywood Reporter cited the same mood as his ultimate downfall. In the end, a show like Ted it was designed specifically to please audiences who loved the films, and it succeeded in that regard. While the show is obviously a huge undertaking, there was an air of inconclusiveness that helped stoke rumors surrounding a follow-up season. Not long after the series was greenlit for a second season, the latest news comes as an exciting production update on Ted season 2. Revealed by Matt Bennett star Scott Grimes in a post on his official Instagram page, it has now been confirmed that production is underway on the second year release. Grimes shared several photos of the cast read and highlighted the main cast members’ individual business cards. It’s still unclear when viewers can expect to see Ted premieres in season 2.

While it took a while for Peacock to make a decision on the future of Seth MacFarlane’s latest TV hit, the eventually renewed rainbow brand Ted for a second season in May 2024. All Ted Movies and shows have been popular with audiences and have attracted enough viewers for Peacock to try again. The expensive production costs of Ted meant a renewal wasn’t a certainty, especially if it underperformed in the ratings department.

Star Scott Grimes has since confirmed that production on the second season is already underway (in June 2024), but the full schedule has yet to be announced. No production updates have emerged in the following months, and it’s safe to assume that the long production schedule will stretch on for some time. Additionally, the visual effects-heavy production will need at least a few months of post-production.

In truth, the series needs the main cast to return en masse to develop the character beats that the first season set up so well. More importantly, Season 2 could also add new characters as John begins his senior year.

This sets up more classic sex comedy antics for the sequel, as John becomes increasingly desperate to achieve his goal.

However Ted was announced as a limited series by Peacock, the season 1 finale left the door open for more. The end of Ted The first season didn’t see John achieve his goal of losing his virginity. In fact, he missed the opportunity in an extremely ironic way that could have become a running joke in the series. This sets up more classic sex comedy antics for the sequel, as John becomes increasingly desperate to achieve his goal.

Most importantly, the ending strengthened the bond between John and Ted and established that they were thinking about entering their senior year together. Ted season 2 could follow the duo as they face their senior year in high school as John continues his quest to lose his virginity. It will also be necessary to introduce new wrinkles, as the show depends on some humorous threads. Whatever happens in Ted in season two, it’s sure to be over-the-top and raunchy as ever.
