Pharazôn rises to power in SA 3255
In the Second Age (SA), Pharazôn rose to power on the island kingdom of Númenor, otherwise known as Westernesse, due to its western location in Arda. Pharazôn is not exactly the first in line to be the ruler of Númenor and made his way to the throne through very nefarious means indeed, rendering him a villainous presence in Tolkien’s lore. Pharazôn’s cousin was first in line to the throne when her father died. Pharazôn falls under the influence of Sauron and triggers the fall of Númenor
Sauron manipulates Pharoah
Ar-Pharazôn made the fatal faux pas of underestimating Sauron, which led to the fall of Númenor. Ar-Pharazôn was the product of centuries of maturing familial greed, hubris and corruption in a once pure nation. Númenor was as close to “Holy“How a civilization of humans existed in Middle-earth, in its beginnings, as an island raised by the Valar – Tolkien’s demigods – and frequented by elves. Men grew envious of the elves’ gift of immortality And grateful for their gift, which was mortality. This sentiment was most difficult for Ar-Pharazôn, who decided to confront the Valar about his complaint.
Ar-Pharazôn was the product of centuries of maturing familial greed, hubris and corruption in a once pure nation.
Ar-Pharazôn’s pain began after he only took the scepter and began to hear of Sauron’s rise to power in Middle-earth and the threat he posed to Númenor. Seeking to confront the threat of Sauron head on, with more than a little Machiavellian desire for world domination fueling him, Ar-Pharazôn sailed to Middle-earth and captured Sauron. Sauron was flabbergasted at the power of Westernesse, which was one of the most technologically advanced societies of his time. Sauron saw that he could not beat Númenor in a fight, so he decided to go willingly and lie his way back to freedom.
Sauron actually lived before time even existed, so he has more military, political, and social experience than any unit of time can even measure.
As a mere mortal, Ar-Pharazôn was no match for Sauron’s 51,000 years of experience or semi-divine biological abilities. Sauron actually lived before time even existed, so he has more military, political, and social experience than any unit of time can even measure. Sauron was keen to attack Númenor, as Pharazôn suspected, so he was happy to be captured. His usefulness as a demigod soon won him favor with the king, even as a prisoner. Sauron eventually exploited Pharazôn’s fear of death to persuade him to sail to Valinor to attempt to wrest immortality from the Valar by force.

Ar-Pharazôn’s mission broke the ban of the Valar – The people of Númenor were not allowed to sail that far west that they could not see their own shores, that they might also becomeLoved by the Immortality of the Valar“(by The Silmarillion). Whether Pharazôn was breaking a ban or not, he was spiritually and politically betraying the 15 Valar, who were the spokespersons of the One Creator, Eru Ilúvatar. Ar-Pharazôn ignored multiple warnings sent by the Valar to sail an all-powerful fleet of ships to Valinor’s shores in a confrontational assault, but he paid the price.
Ar-Pharazôn was sent on a fool’s errand by Sauron, who knew that the Valar would decimate his fleet and neutralize him. But Sauron did not account for the severity of the Valar’s response. In an unprecedented shock move, Eru Ilutar himself intervened to break the sea botWhat made Numener and his fleet. While some sages escaped Númenor’s fate, Ar-Pharazôn was buried under hills near the coast and Sauron drowned.
