A new Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket leak claims that an upcoming competitive event will be the toughest for players. Pokémon TCG Pocket has released a steady stream of events since its release, featuring a mix of battle-focused events and others focused on collecting new cards, like Lapras’s ex. Because competitive events often have a level of disparity, as some players have drawn core cards and others have not, these events often reward prizes such as emblems rather than promotional card-exclusive rewards or accessories.
Recently, a Pokémon TCG Pocket leak posted on Reddit by the Fearior user suggests that a new competitive event will be coming soon, presenting a unique challenge for players. Players can earn new badges based on a winning streak in competitive matches. The main reward is a golden emblem, which can be obtained by winning five consecutive matches.. No other rewards were revealed for this leaked event, nor was a timeframe given for when it would begin.
Can players really complete the impossible challenge in Pokémon TCG Pocket?
Pokémon TCG Pocket players will need a lot of luck to achieve five wins in a row
Following a winning streak may not seem like an impossible task, but the small prize pool and the emergence of several meta-relevant decks make this a very difficult feat. Even a superior deck, like the former tournament-winning deck, Pikachu, can be disrupted by bad card draws or a Fighting-type deck, like the former Marowak. Outside of the Mewtwo ex deck (which can still be beaten by fast decks like Pikachu ex or Starmie ex), every highly competitive deck can be beaten under the right circumstances. This means that achieving five consecutive victories is a highly difficult task.
Players should consider two main strategies if they want to win the top prize of this new event. They can choose to build a dominant deck like Pikachu’s ex and hope they don’t have bad luck or bad draws. The other option is to build a deck that can beat the meta-dominant decks and hope they get a series of favorable matchups. For example, a Marowak ex deck may be the best choice, as it is a Fighting-type deck that is not weak to Psychic-type Pokémon Found in former Mewtwo decks.
Our Take: This Could Be Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Worst Event Yet
Pokémon TCG players may not have much fun chasing minimal rewards
Pokémon TCG Pocket Matches involve a lot of luck, from the deck you’re playing against, to the cards you draw, to using coin flips to deal extra damage on attacks. While good deck builds can mitigate at least some of this luck, matches in Pokémon TCG Pocket are much more oscillating than in a physical Pokémon TCG game. This is why I’m not a fan of this event. Even a player with the best deck and strategy will still have difficulty winning five games in a row because there is a lot of luck involved.
Hopefully badges are the only rewards involved in this new event. Hiding new promotional cards or bonus hourglasses behind an almost impossible-to-complete task would be unfair and make Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket much less pleasant.
