A success comedy The film franchise starring Ben Stiller and Chris Rock has several episodes climbing the major streaming charts. Although both stars have dabbled in other genres, including horror (Rock’s Spiral: From the Book of Saw) and drama (Stiller’s While we are young and Brad Status), both are mainly known for comedy. After more than a decade out of theaters, several Madagascar movies are climbing the major streaming charts. The animated franchise began in 2005 with the original film following a group of zoo animals – including Chris Rock’s adventurous zebra Marty and Ben Stiller’s lion Alex – who escape and become trapped in Madagascar. It started a franchise that now includes two sequels and the 2014 spinoff film Penguins of Madagascarwho have cumulatively raised US$2.27 billion worldwide.

Node Disney+ Top 10 daily chart for November 15 in the United States, two Madagascar films appeared after the franchise had been out of theaters for a decade. In the chart, which ranks movies and television shows, the original 2005 film reached second place, while the 2008 sequel Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa appeared in 7th place.

In addition to Adam Sandler Adults at #10, every other title on the chart is a new release – including Deadpool and Wolverine (No. 1), High potential (No. 5), Agatha all the time (No. 6), and Wizards Beyond Waverly Place (No. 8) – or a Christmas classic like Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (No. 3) or Santa Claus (No. 4).

The fact that the animation comedy films have managed to gain a foothold on the Disney+ charts in the face of such strong contemporary and seasonal competition that it shows that they still have wide audience appeal. If films continue to dominate the charts, it could spell good news for the possible Madagascar 4which has so far never come to fruition, despite recent rumors in 2017.
