Guy Ritchie Ray Donovan spin-off series, The Donovanshas reportedly become a standalone project, with the likes of Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan being eyed for starring roles. The Donovans The spin-off was originally announced back in February 2024, focusing on a branch of the family located in London, where criminal activity is rampant. Ritchie was attached to the project, which was set to premiere on Paramount+ in late 2024. However, there has been no concrete news about the spin-off since then, so it’s unclear when exactly it will arrive.
Now, according to DeadlineHardy, Brosnan and Helen Mirren are in talks to star in the film Guy Ritchie’s partnersworking title of what once belonged to the director Ray Donovan Paramount+ spin-off. The description of the show is exactly the same as when it was announced. The Donovansindicating that the show had moved away from a direct connection to the original under Liev Schreiber’s direction. This includes details of the series, set in London, about a family of gangsters and middlemen involved in dirty business dealings.
The show follows two generations of criminals, focusing on both business and crime solving. Hardy is expected to play Harry, an assistant in the crime family whose leaders will be played by Brosnan and Mirren. The series is produced by Showtime/MTV Studios and 101 Studios, with Richie directing all episodes of the potentially 10-episode series. The series will be written by Ronan Bennett, who serves as executive producer along with Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, Ron Burkle, David K. Glasser, David Hutkin and Bob Yari. Ritchie’s new series still contains some elements of the Showtime original: the fixer is the central character, while the other criminals revolve around him, going about their business. However, with The Donovans The title has been removed from the series, apparently Partners will not be directly related, despite the similarities. The casting news also makes it clear that the show will not premiere this year as originally planned.

Although the Paramount+ series is no longer associated with Ray DonovanRichie Gentlemen on Netflix has proven that he can create interesting spin-offs of his own work. The same could be applied to the Showtime original, i.e. PartnersChanges could have been made to ensure the series could go its own way without relying on previous work. Perhaps this means a more lucrative partnership could form between Ritichi and Paramount+, much like how creator Taylor Sheridan has four current and one upcoming shows on the platform.
