It’s no secret that Overwatch 2 had a difficult existence, but if recent reports are to be believed, Blizzard may be trying to breathe life into the hero shooter with a mobile port.. There is a huge market for decent FPS games for mobile devices with games like Call of Duty Mobile And PUBG Mobile version attracted millions of players from all over the world. Given Overwatch 2reputation, bringing the game to mobile seems like a risky move, but if it works, it might just save the game.
On Reddit, user -The Last Grail- shared an excerpt from the book Play Beautiful: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment journalist Jason Schreier, where It is suggested to use the mobile version Overwatch 2 is in development:
“Overwatch was led by Walter Kong, who oversaw the release of regular heroes and content for Overwatch 2. as well as new projects like a mobile version of the franchise.»
Apart from this piece of information, nothing else is known about the project except Schreier is known as one of the most respected insiders in the video game industry.. Whether the project is intended for a wide release or exists as a purely conceptual piece remains unknown.
Should Overwatch 2 come to mobile?
It’s not the worst idea
As mentioned above, there is a huge audience for competitive shooters on mobile devices, so with the ever-increasing power of smartphones, games like Resident Evil: The Village playable, It’s clear that Blizzard sees a future for Overwatch 2 on iOS and Android. With simple objectives and a relatively low barrier to entry, there’s certainly every reason for the hero shooter to thrive on mobile devices. The bigger question, however, is what this means for the established player base.
Opening Overwatch 2 for a wider audience may be successful in terms of revenue generation, but this may alienate those players who were with the sequel from the very beginning. Overwatch 2 has been mired in controversy since its announcement, and the game has struggled to please its players over the past few years. Spending time porting the game to mobile devices is not the kind of work that enthusiasts want to see from Blizzard, so the game risks losing many of its longtime fans.

Screen Rant’s opinion: Overwatch 2 for mobile devices is a cool idea
But this will not solve the problems of the game
Availability of mobile version Overwatch 2 may be a fun novelty, but its existence will only exacerbate the game’s existing problems. I think Blizzard should focus more on correcting the game’s bad reputation. re-evaluating its monetization model, disappointing cosmetics and poor matchmaking, rather than chasing the potential cash cow of mobile gaming. As with most reports, take this with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made, but it’s possible that Blizzard will at least experiment with the idea.
