Blank Passimian is finally made his Pokémon GO Debut during a special Raid Day event in September 2024, meaning trainers can catch both Passimian and Oranguru in very rare shiny variants. Although shiny oranguru is available to meet since Pokémon GO Fest 2023, this is the first time Shiny Passimian appeared in the mobile game.
The two primates first appeared in Pokemon Sun and Moon On the Nintendo 3DS, with the lemur-inspired Passimian being exclusive to the Sun version of the game and the orangutan-inspired Oranguru being exclusive to the Moon version of the game. They are considered counterparts, so Shiny hunters will no doubt be eager to add them both to their Shiny Pokemon collection to make the perfect pair.
How to find shiny passimian & oranguru
Take advantage of boosted blank odds during their research day
Your best chance of finding a Shiny Passimian and a Shiny Oranguru will be During the research day: Oranguru and Passimian eventwhich takes place from 2 PM to 5 PM local time on Sunday, September 22, 2024. One of the bonuses of this mini-event is boosted blank odds for Passimian and Oranguru, making it the perfect time to try and meet one.
You will be able to earn reward encounters with Passimian and Oranguru by completing Event-exclusive field research tasks. These can be claimed by spinning PokéStops or Gym Discs during event hours. Remember, if you’ve already reached the maximum number of field research tasks (usually three or four), you can always delete some to make room for new ones.

The event will also have a Paid-for set of timed research tasks Which will provide extra passimian and oranguru reward encounters when you complete field research tasks. This can be purchased in the game store for $2 or the equivalent price in your local currency.
If you can find a shiny passimian or oranguru, you will know right away because their color schemes are quite different from their regular variants. Shiny passimian has blue and orange features, while shiny oranguru gets a pastel pink color scheme instead of its usual white fur. Shines also sparkle when you move to the capture screen, and a star symbol will appear next to their name, so it’s much clearer than the main Pokemon games.
If you miss the Research Day: Oranguru and Passimian event, the Chances of encountering a shiny passimian or oranguru will be drastically reduced. These two Pokemon also have fairly low spawn rates Pokémon GOSo even finding a regular version can be a challenge. It’s likely that they’ll both return with boosted wild spawns in future events, so make sure you keep an eye out for that.
