After defeating this boss, return to the Lair and explore the lava caves until you come across a door with two huge statues guarding it.

Getting close to the door will give you a new objective to “Solve the statue puzzle” which takes you to another section of the Lava Caves. This area features four distinct statues of famous warriors, all with levers that can adjust the direction of each statue. In a next Registered Shield On the floor or in the previous door you saw, you can read a special riddle that starts the main puzzle of this quest.

Use clues to discover the position of each statue

When you read the riddle about the four warrior statues on Sharksmouth Mountain, it says:

“Four knights rode into battle. One darted to the right flank, his arrows a rain of steel. One remained, his shield behind to protect everyone’s back. One went boldly forward, his sword thrust forward in toward the enemy. One crept over the left flank, his hammer was a harvest.

Each verse of the riddle gives a clue as to which statue represents each Knight. You need position each Knight statue in the directions they were facing in the puzzle “battle” to solve the puzzle. Although you can keep trying different directions for each statue until you get it right, you can search the Lava Caves for more clues about which Knight is which.

To find out how to position each statue, follow the four quest markers deeper into the ruins to find out who each knight was. As you pursue this side quest in Dragon Age: The Veil GuardYou will learn about each Knight by discovering larger statues of them by following these steps:

Knight

How to find clues

Enigma Relationship

Ser Rian the Red

In the far corner of the area, you can destroy some Blight Boils to reveal another statue of this Knight.

“One shot towards the right flank, his arrows forming a rain of steel.”

Ser Dheon the Silent

Head to the ruined building, where you can see several Blight Boil growths on its roof. A small room you can enter after these obstacles are destroyed reveals a clue as to who this Knight was.

“One went boldly forward, his sword thrown towards the enemy.”

Ser Ifean Beloved of the Moon

Use Lucanis’ Spite ability to open a rift and reveal a path through the lava pit of the area’s caves. Traversing the gorge will reveal more clues about this Knight’s role in the battle.

“One remained, with the shield behind to protect everyone’s back.”

Ser Cruach the Wolf

Use Harding’s ability on Dragon Age: The Veil Guard raise stone platforms that lead to the path of another statue representing this Knight.

“One crept up the left flank, with his hammer a harvest reaped.”

Once you’ve done this, you can read each statue in the main puzzle room to deduce who should be facing where. For example, since the second statue of Ser Rian the Red you found showed them wielding a bow, you can figure out that they were the ones who fired arrows at the right flank of the riddle battle. This means that Rian’s statue should face right.

While Ser Cruach and Ser Rian’s direction is easy to figure out, Ser Ifean should be facing forward to protect his allies, while Ser Dheon should be facing the wall to emulate directly attacking enemies.

Each statue must be in the positions below to open the door:

  • 1st Statue – Facing Forward or Forward
  • 2nd Statue – Facing the back wall
  • 3rd Statue – Facing Right
  • 4th Statue – Facing Left

When each statue is facing the right direction, you can return to the first door in the Lava Caves that started this quest. The door will now be open, leading to a secret room where you can collect various rare treasures as a reward for solving the puzzle.
