During the climax Absolute power #4 by Mark Waid and Dan More, The Flash disables Amanda Waller’s machine, preventing her multiversal army from reaching Earth. This was the critical moment that allowed the heroes to defeat Waller once and for all, but the choice was not made without loss. While the heroes managed to prevent her army from invading Earth, it also isolated Prime Earth from the rest of the multiverse.
While shutting down the multiverse was the only way to stop Amanda Waller from gaining “absolute power” over Earth, the Justice League would no longer be able to rely on reinforcements from other Earths in a crisis, including multiverse explorers on teams like Justice. League Incarnation Team. His a major change to the DC status quoespecially since its multiverse has been a key narrative factor for some of its most important stories.

DC Everything is in special order A Brand New Absolute Universe Revealed
DC All In Special #1 by Joshua Williamson, Scott Snyder, Daniel Sampere, Wes Craig, Dan Mora, Alejandro Sanchez, Mike Spicer, Tamra Bonvillain and Steve Wands.
The DC Multiverse offered an endless amount of opportunity and threat, which was both a good and a bad thing. The existence of a multiverse meant that the creator could really do whatever he wanted, but it also meant that the universe and overall plot could feel much less focused. DC cleverly sidestepped this issue by introducing an Ultimate Universe that would function as the only alternate universe that the heroes of Earth Prime will deal with let’s go forward. Instead of worrying about the dark multiverse or any other infinite number of Earths, the only worlds that matter are Earth-Prime and the Ultimate Universe.
Connected
This new status quo allows DC to focus on having only two universes they need to worry about. While other creators may continue to create stories in the multiverse (the Elseworlds line is still going strong), none of them will have anything to do with the plot currently unfolding in the main variants of the DCU and the Ultimate Universe. This is a fantastic way to DC to really hone in on their big universe-wide stories without complicating things too much.. After all, if a new larger universe were to emerge, it would be too easy to call it the incarnation of the Justice League. But since Earth Prime is cut off from the multiverse, it is impossible to contact them.
The famous DC multiverse has become much more limited
Research is out of the question
The DC Multiverse is huge, but it has lost its sense of mystery over the years, especially as pop culture has become more and more saturated with different types of multiverse stories, from Across the Universes To Everything everywhere and at once. In the world of DC Comics, which has one of the oldest multiverses in pop culture historyJustice League has reduced the exploration of the multiverse pretty much to a science. Barry Allen regularly went on exploratory trips across the multiverse, mapping out all the planets he found, which meant that neither readers nor characters could be truly surprised by what was there.
Looking for more stories of DC superheroes exploring the multiverse? Try starting with the Infinite Frontier era miniseries. Incarnation of the Justice League Joshua Williamson, Dennis Culver and Andrei Bressan, is now available both digitally and as a collection from DC Comics.
By isolating the multiverse and making DC’s central story strictly about Earth Prime and the Ultimate Universe, DC brought back a sense of mystery to alternate realities. No one knows what’s really going on in the Ultimate Universe, not the readers or the characters. This is one of the most exciting choice of multiverse history DC has made Years have passed and DC has acknowledged that they will be committed to this universe for many years to come.
The Ultimate Universe is the perfect answer to multiverse fatigue
The multiverse is finally interesting again
The multiverse is an easy trap for comic franchises to fall into. This is a tool that offers limitless potential. But the problem with this limitless potential is that it can quickly lose the sense of mystery and excitement it once had. When there are infinite Earths in the multiverse, readers already know that there should be a ready-made solution. If a creator wants a Superman who has consumed all the suns of his universe for unlimited power, he can be brought in. If the story needs Batman fused with the Joker, that’s no problem either. A multiverse in which everything is present is not surprising, because then there is nothing interesting.
While Marvel had a giant multiverse that allowed writers to tell individual stories, they really focused on Earth-616 and Earth-1610.
This “new” method has already proven its effectiveness. It’s no secret that the Ultimate Universe is based on the Ultimate Marvel Universe. The naming convention is even similar. While Marvel had a giant multiverse that allowed the creators to tell separate stories, they really focused on Earth-616 and Earth-1610. Ultimate Universe was a huge success for Marvel. and led to the emergence of fantastic characters such as Miles Morales. While DC has always had an expansive multiverse, the publisher has never really focused on two specific realities—until now.
The DC Multiverse is more interesting than ever
Two planets are much more interesting than an infinite number
Over the past few decades, almost every franchise has delved into the multiverse. It’s a staple of comics, and has even begun to infiltrate the broader realm of pop culture storytelling. While the endless possibilities of the multiverse were fun, nothing beats a narrowly focused story. The Ultimate Universe is everything that’s great about the Multiverse, but it’s so small in size that everything seems to matter right now. Of all the options DC Comics achieved success in the multiverse by giving Prime Earth a break from it and focusing on the Ultimate Universe – one of the best ideas in recent years.
