Marvel is giving fans a tease of their MCU battle in new series

With a whole new Captain America Marvel Comics has announced a limited series where Sam Wilson will officially go up against the antagonist of his movie on the horizon, Red Hulk. Before Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford go head-to-head on the big screen, their comic characters will have their first definitive battle. In a bit of synergy between Marvel’s comics and film divisions, Sam Wilson’s cap soars in a fresh action-packed adventure.

Marvel released the first details of their latest limited series first number, Sam Wilson: Captain America #1 – Written by Greg Pak and Evan Narcisse with art from Eder Christ. Taurin Clarke’s cover illustrates a first look at the new Captain America story with cues from the upcoming MCU film featuring Red HulkAlso preview a few additional surprise characters to join the mix.

When Captain America attends a birthday party for Isaiah Bradley, he catches wind of a new tech venture that sounds too good to be true: magnificent floating platforms in the sky, where franchisees can apply for land grants and establish their own farms. But after Sam discovers the dark underbelly of the organization, he will have to contend with his head of security: Red Hulk!

The solicitation details another spy thriller with a strong social issue at its root. When Cap fights to take down a shadowy organization exploiting Americans, he’ll have to take on Marvel’s big red storm monster.

Though Sam Wilson’s new limited series won’t be an exact match or adaptation from February 2025 Captain America: Brave New WorldBoth are sold on the impending conflict between Cap and Red Hulk. Thaddeus Ross and Sam Wilson both made their comics debuts in the 1960s, but haven’t had much crossover or interaction in their decades of Marvel history. With Ross becoming Red Hulk in 2008 and Falcon stepping into the Captain America role in 2014, their characters being paired together for the MCU blockbuster brings the two elevated versions of their characters together for a major comics brawl.

Since taking on the role of Captain America, Sam Wilson has become a major part of the Marvel Comics Universe and his status will seemingly continue to rise as he leads a massive new film. His role in Earth-616 as a social worker, as a superhero, will be integral to his new adventure as he goes up against Red Hulk to protect the rights of people in need. Sam Wilson’s powerful version of Captain America will have to use all his skills when he clashes with Red Hulk and the evil group that employed him.

Clarke’s cover for the first issue of the new limited series Not only spotlights the battle between Captain America and Red Hulk, but previews some other surprising faces that will appear. Although the trailers for the 2025 film showed Ross and Isaiah Bradley, the new Marvel Comics series features more of the favorites entering the fray. Eli Bradley’s Patriot, the grandson of Isaiah, is featured on the cover along with Storm and War Machine. Sam has just recruited Storm to the Avengers, and she will be one of the mighty Marvel heroes to lend a helping hand to Cap for his latest storyline.

Captain America’s rivalry with the incredibly fierce Red Hulk has the potential to become a defining piece of both characters in the Marvel Universe for years to come.

Sam Wilson’s new feature film may be the inspiration for his new limited comic series, debuting this month before the movie releases, but it will seemingly take some surprising twists and turns to help it be a standalone story separate from the MCU . Sam has become what some would call “the perfect Captain America”, and will continue to prove himself as such in comics and film. Captain America: Brave New World (formerly titled New World Order) Marks Sam Wilson’s first MCU big-screen appearance as Steve Rogers’ successor after getting the suit and shield in Phase 4 The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Anthony Mackie returns as the titular Avenger alongside Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Carl Lumby as Isaiah Bradley, and Tim Blake Nelson as the Incredible Hulk’s former ally Samuel Sterns. Harrison Ford makes his MCU debut replacing the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross.
