What this means for Transformers One
The film is ready for audiences on Thanksgiving Day
This streaming debut could provide a huge benefit for Transformers Oneas family films tend to have large audiences on American Thanksgiving, when families get together and often look for content to watch together. It will have to fend off theatrical competition from upcoming blockbusters, including Evil, Gladiator IIand Moana 2but as one of the newest home releases, it can still attract a large number of viewers. It also premieres on the same day as the Christmas action comedy Redwhich has less impressive box office projections and could give the animated film a solid edge.
This potential streaming boom could go a long way toward helping the film break even, as it is thus far the lowest-grossing film of the year. Transformers films released in the 21st century. In theaters, it grossed just US$128.8 million worldwide. While that makes it the 24th highest-grossing film of the year so far, its estimated budget of between $75 and $147 million likely means that your break-even point is probably between $187.5 and $367.5 millionso it needs a significant financial boost to end up in the black.
More to come…
