Now, one fan artist takes the adorable characters to the next level in a terrifyingly adorable mashup featuring the world of Junji Ito and his disturbing artwork.

Fan artist Darilia took to Instagram to share a collage of Hello Kitty-inspired artwork blending with Junji Ito’s unique body horror style. The result is a fascinating collection focusing on what appears to be Ito’s femme fatale, Tommy, as she shows her hello kitty Looks along the Sanrio cast. Her most notable outfits include a take on My Melody and Kuromi that show the character’s sweeter and darker sides, along with the two adorable characters merging together beneath her. Plus, with other references to Junji Ito’s work such as Cinamaroll as Shouichi and Hello Kitty herself as Azami from UzumakiIt’s a wildly dark take on the Sanrio-verse.
