Dragon Ball Daima introduces a new ability to a run of the classic series that might even make a Saiyan sweat

Warning: Spoilers for episode 5 of Dragon Ball DaimaDragon Ball Daima has now revealed a trait possessed by all members of the Demon Realm’s Majin race, making them much more dangerous than they initially seemed. This new ability raises some important questions about the series’ new characters and could impact Daimathe story going forward.

Majin appear to be the most abundant variety of beings in the Demon Realm, as well as one of the most oppressed. Panzy states that Majin normally lives to be around 1,000 years old and appears to age quite slowly, as he claims to be 82 years old. The term “Majin” in Japanese can mean “demonic person” or “magical person”, and this ambiguity is quite fitting for the residents of the Demon Realm, as they seem to qualify as both.

Majin’s ability could be a problem for Goku

Goku has fought magical enemies in the past

In episode #5, Panzy reveals that all Majin are capable of using at least some magicwhich she demonstrates by levitating a rock for a brief moment, although it requires a lot of effort. Goku is impressed by the display and becomes excited. Goku has seen magic before, of course; in fact, he has had to deal with it on many occasions, such as with the Fortuneteller Baba, and in the past, it has caused him considerable problems, as magic operates completely independently of the Ki abilities he is familiar with.

If magic really is so widespread in the Demon Realm, this could be a significant problem for Goku’s group moving forward. Depending on the types of magical abilities Majin may possess, they can be surprisingly tricky for Goku to fight. Magic can be used for a wide variety of things, from sealing techniques like the Evil Containment Wave to defensive moves like Babidi’s magical shield. Goku really has no way to subvert an enemy’s use of magicso any sufficiently skilled opponent he could find here in the Demon Realm could have a huge advantage.

What does this magic mean for Glorio?

Glorio’s magical ability has not been revealed

Glory flying through the air.

If all Majin possess some ability with magic, this would suggest that Glorio is also capable of using some degree of magic. This could provide an explanation for how Glorio is able to fly without knowing about Ki, for example. While Glorio hardly seems like the type to extensively practice his magic, he may still have some surprising tricks up his sleeve, befitting his cool and competent characterization.

It seems like it’s only a matter of time before Glorio’s magical abilities are revealed, and they could be extremely useful depending on the exact circumstances. It’s interesting that Glorio ignored what appears to be a common ability among his people, suggesting that perhaps he has some level of disdain for magic. Exactly what’s going on with Glory and his connection to magic is something that only future episodes of Dragon Ball Daima can reveal.
