Hat Mouse has disappeared for some Stardew Valley players, but they’ll be back soon, ConcernedApe promises

The recent Valley of the Stars update resulted in some players are missing the adorable Hat Mouseinstead, I discovered that the building was abandoned and hats could still be purchased without them. With the recent release of update 1.6 finally hitting the console and mobile versions, as well as a quick general 1.6.9 update for PC as well, it’s to be expected that some bugs will emerge.

This strange missing Hat Mouse bug in 1.6.9 has been verified as being a problem only for those who play in Spanishas confirmed by the developer Worried monkey. According to the creator, this will be fixed in an upcoming patch. Although players cannot see the Hat Mouse character in their current saves, they can still interact and purchase hats without any issues, making this a visual-only issue. As a very minor bug, players shouldn’t expect their games to be impacted too much, with a fix on the way.

Stardew’s latest update didn’t have many bugs

1.6 has had few problems since release

The lack of the Hat Mouse is a very minor bug for the game, and the main reason it matters is because the Hat Mouse is a fanbase favorite. Hat Mouse doesn’t play a major role in the game other than selling hats, but its mysterious origins and cute use of the word “poke“means that Losing them in the game will be disappointing, even if it’s only temporary.

While any bugs in games are not ideal, Valley of the StarsUpdate 1.6.9 had minimal reported issues. With the occasional player noticing minor complaints in the form of crafting bugs, gameplay freezes, and a few other minor details, generally seems to be running without too many problems for most. Updated alone for the most part by ConcernedApe, it remains impressive that one man alone can update with these minor bugs or game-breaking issues.

Update 1.6 itself is also huge, including lots of new content from a new Meadowlands farm, crops, and the ability to have multiple pets and play with multiple friends together. One of the biggest new features comes in the form of the mastery system, giving players who have completed the game something new to work towards as they continue to earn skill points for maxed abilities and redeem new rewards.

Our opinion: Stardew Bugs never last long

ConcernedApe is working on patches

ConcernedApe has been releasing patches almost daily since the release of 1.6.9, going so far as to apologize for the problems it created in the game’s modding community. Despite confirming that he “will release fewer, larger patches“from now on, to avoid the difficulties of adapting to many different versions of the game, it is clear that keeping the game functional and bug-free is a high priority for Eric. His own admission that this will be fixed in an upcoming patch also confirms what ConcernedApe is tracking the issues and will definitely fix this soon.

Previous Valley of the Stars Bugs have been met with exactly the same reception from Eric Barone, who continually listens to community feedback and sends updates for any bugs big or small. Considered one of the best indie developers for his continued attention to his fanbase and their issues, there’s a reason why Valley of the Stars remains as loved as it is. Through these large-scale free content updates and rapid bug fixes, ConcernedApe continues to prove that it cares deeply about the player experience above all else – and we’re confident that this new bug will be fixed, like many, soon.
