Attack on Titan is one of the most monumental anime series to come out in the last 20 years. It is full of incredible fights, a rich world full of twists and turns, and Some of the saddest deaths in anime. Attack on Titan Does a great job of giving each character’s death meaning, no matter how big or small they are to the story. Some characters, like Erwin Smith, go out on their own terms, while characters like Marco Bodt have more uncomfortable endings.

Titans are a major threat to the people of Paradis. Even experienced Survey Corps soldiers are not untouched. One mistake and a Survey Corps member can lose a limb, or worse, in an instant. Titans aren’t the only threat in Attack on Titan Although, some of the most gruesome deaths in the series happen far away from the battlefield.

Hang Zoe

The poll’s 14th commander went out in style

Hange Zoe is one of the few characters in Attack on Titan Who has to choose how she died. During the end of the series, when the remaining Survey Corps members and Eldians are trying to escape the Rambling, Hange makes her last stand. As the 14th commander of the Survey Corps, she knows her story ends here. She needs to buy the group time to take out their plane, and with the hundreds of colossal titans closing in on them, it’s not looking good.

Hange flies into the immeasurable group of titans without flinching. She takes down several before the heat overwhelms her and catches her on fire. Even while burning alive, she flies into one last colossal titan and slices its neck. While her death was sad, her sacrifice made it noble and worthy, as the remaining soldiers survived because of her.

Eren lost Hannes to the Smiling Titan as well

Hannes was the man who saved Eren and Mikasa from the Smiling Titan when it first invaded their home at the beginning of Attack on Titan. When the Smiling Titan came back to the battlefield, Eren was excited and furious at the same time. He wanted to get his revenge but couldn’t transform because he had exhausted his titan-shifting powers. luckily, Hans came to defend him when Ern needed him the most. Hannes was doing pretty well against the Smiling Titan too, until it caught up with him.

After slashing the Grinning Titan’s heel and bringing him to the ground, he reached into the air and grabbed Hannes. Eren could do nothing but Watch as the man who saved him is eaten by the same titan that took his mother. It is such a brutal moment for Eren, he starts laughing, breaking down completely mentally.

Mike’s death was unexpected and cruel

Mike Zacharias is known as humanity’s second strongest soliderRight behind the legend Levi Ackerman. Mike’s abilities on the battlefield are second only to the best in Paradis, making his death a huge blow to their overall strength. Mike’s death was a slow, cruel death at the hands of the Beast Titan. While Mike was scouting what he thought was an abnormal titan (the Beast Titan), he called for his horse so he could leave.

Mike was surrounded by four larger titans but still had time to escape, until the animal titan grabbed his horse and threw it at him. Mike’s fate was sealed in an instant. He was knocked off the building he was on, falling right into a titan’s mouth. The titan ate one of his legs. The Beast Titan then took his OEM gear and allowed the rest of the Titans to finish the job.

Carla Yoger

Eren saw his mother die for him

The death of Carla Yeager set the tone for Attack on Titan Early. The first episode begins peacefully, setting the stage for one of the most tragic events of mass destruction in any anime. The armored and colossal Titans break down Wall Maria, letting hordes of Titans breach it. When they breach the wall, they send debris flying everywhere, killing dozens. One of the pieces of debris lands on Eren’s house and pins his mom to the ground. She can’t escape it.

The Smiling Titan then appears, looking to eat Eren and Mikasa. Hans tries to free Karla from the ruins, but he is not strong enough. He tries to fight the Smiling Titan, but he is too scared. He decides to save Eren and Mikasa, While the pair watch Eren’s mom get her back broken and then eaten by the massive titan.

Erwin Smith and the Survey Corps

One of the greatest speeches in anime

Erwin Smith’s death is one of the most inspirational and saddest deaths in anime. Erwin and the Survey Corps are up against the Beast Titan, and it’s not looking good. The Beast Titan is able to grab rocks and crush them, creating an avalanche of sharp debris that he can hurl at lethal speeds. The Survey Corps can’t escape because he has them pinned down, so Their only choice is to blame right at him To hopefully create an opening for Louis.

Erwin realizes the situation at hand and gives the greatest speech in Attack on Titan. He fills his troops with the courage they need to face death bravely. They charge right at the Beast Titan, who falls for their victim, allowing Levi to get in close and slice him like sushi. Erwin’s death is a testament to the powerful and ground-breaking life he lived.

Sasha Braus

one of Attack on Titan’s Sweetest letters

Sasha Braus was one of the simplest characters in Attack on Titan. But she wanted to eat with her friends. When Eren invaded Morley, his friends had to go save him. They attacked Marley very well, using Armin as the Colossal Titan to destroy important enemy bases and back up Eren effectively. They got away with almost zero casualties, until Gabi and Falco got on their airship.

She hit Sasha right through the chest, mortally wounding her. Falco stopped her from killing another person, but the damage to Sasha was done. Her last words were perfectly in line with her character, asking Connie to calm down and trying to find out where she could get meat.

Marco Bodt

Too smart for his own good

Reiner, Bertholdt and Annie’s discovery is one of the most shocking moments in anime. Before they were training alongside the rest of the Survey Corps, they were responsible for the fall of Wall Maria. They were directly responsible for killing Eren’s mom and everyone else inside the walls, confirming the events of Attack on Titan in motion. While they did a great job of hiding their secret for most of the series, they accidentally let their plan slip in front of their fellow scout, Marco Bodt.

Marco did not understand what he heard at first, and gave Reiner and Berthold the benefit of the doubt. They could not take any chances, and hunted Marco down. Annie then arrived and helped the couple by stripping Marco of his OEM gear. The trio of traitors then saw a nearby titan, Sacrifice their former ally to him in one of the saddest deaths in the series.

Ern’s foreboding excuse

Ramsey and Halil were not on either side of the war Attack on Titan. They were poor beggars who were victims of the rumbling. When Eren invaded Marley, he found that Ramsey had been beaten by multiple men for stealing. Although he knew he would eventually kill the boy by rambling, He saved him from being hit in an attempt to rewrite the future. When Eren realized that nothing would change, he turned to Ramsey and apologized profusely, much to Ingle’s confusion.

Ramzi and Halil run from the rumbling when a colossal titan destroys a building as it goes, kicking massive amounts of debris their way. One of the pieces pins Ramsey to the ground, where he is forced to look at Khalil’s dead body. through blood-curdling screams, Ramsay is trampled by a colossal titan and dies savagely.

Even titans aren’t this cruel

Fairy Hunter’s death was the saddest, cruelest death in Attack on Titan To never happen on the battlefield. It’s moments like Faye’s death that make Eren’s rage against Marley perfectly understandable. When Eren’s father, Grisha Hunter, was a small boy living in Marley, he heard of some flying boats that would be in the area. He took his sister Fay with him to look at the boats, but they ended up in an area where they were not allowed to look at the boats. They were caught by two guards. Grisha tried to do the right thing and forgot to get them both.

The second guard took his sister away, saying that he would escort her back while Grisha received his punishment. Instead of taking Fay back home, He had multiple dogs attack her, killing the young girl horribly. Fay’s death ignited an uncomfortable anger within Grisha that he eventually passed on to his son Eren, leading to the end of the world.

Eren Yager

Eren became the evil he saw in the world

Eren is a handsome protagonist unlike any other. He became the most evil he saw in the world in an attempt to end it. After years of fighting with titans, of losing his friends and family to the terrible monsters, Eren has had enough. When he found out that Marley was behind it all, he decided that the world needed to end for a new one to begin. His friends tried to convince him otherwise, but it was too late. Eren told him that if they want to stop him, they have to kill him. Mikasa did just that.

At the end of the battle of Heaven and Earth, Mikasa flew into the first titan that was Eren, and quickly beheaded him. She then finally kissed her long-time crush, freeing him from the burden that had become his existence. Eren’s death is the saddest in Attack on Titan Because of the weight of everything that the protagonist had to endure and the suffering that he willingly inflicted on others.
