Colossal swords have always been a powerful option in Alden ring And with the latest update to equipment in patch 1.14, they have become even stronger. With their incredible range and surprising speed, colossal swords have once again found a place at the top of the meta that hasn’t been seen since the initial release of Alden ring. with these 16 different colossal swords In the game, players have a variety of options to play with in PVP.

Colossal swords can take some getting used to, as their slow attacks can be tricky to land in PVP, especially with high latency. however, With the Hyper Armor that many of their attacks providePlayers can feel confident trading against their opponent for good chunks of damage. In order to use them to the best of their ability, building around colossal swords can allow for some incredibly fast duels if one uses them properly.

Colossal Swords: Stat Skillings

Strength Mines are smiling

Blocking with two hands in Elden ring

Most colossal swords scale away from the Strength stat, giving it more value than Dexterity. However, there are some great swords that also benefit from a high Dexterity stat, such as the Godslayer’s Greatsword or a Keen Twohander. In order to make the most of the colossal sword you’ve chosen, make sure you’ve split your stats in a way that most optimizes the weapon you’re using. In most cases, however, Strength will be the main stat to prioritize.

There are many colossal swords that have split scaling, especially among the somber armaments. Choosing between Faith, Intelligence, and Arcane will determine the various talismans and spells at your disposal, implementing different status buildups.

For example, a Strength/Faith build might choose to use the Fire Knight’s Greatsword for its excellent scaling with a Flame Art infusion, while a Strength/Arcane build might choose the Normal greetings with a blood infusion For additional blood build up.

Baffled heavy attacks

With the release of patch 1.14, Colossal Swords received a massive increase in their attack speed, especially on heavy attacks, allowing them to act as a proper trade tool. Both the Zweihander and the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greetsword have unique thrust heavy attacks that deal piercing damage, meaning the damage is boosted when counterattacking. The Ashes of War Storm Stomp Can be used in tandem with the weapons for a guaranteed combo in his heavy attack, as Storm Stomp’s lingering hitbox can be used to catch rolls.

Although it has a higher number of recovery frames, Colossal Swords’ heavy attack now comes out nearly as fast as its light attack. This turned colossal swords into a lethal mix-up optionAs opponents will have to be incredibly attentive to determine which attack is on start-up, allowing for sneaky damage trades. To top it all off, Colossal Swords’ crouch poke attack is an incredible roll catching tool, which can be used to catch opponents after the storm stomp stun wears off.

Tremendous sword build recommendations

Statistics, talismans and consumables

The build setup for using colossal swords in Elden Ring Patch 1.14 (Intelligence Route)

Over the past week, I’ve been experimenting with the current three best colossal swords: Greetsword, Zwiehander, and Ancient Meteoric Ore Greetsword. It is difficult to choose a definitive best of the best, because they can all be used for different situations. The Great Sword is the heaviest of the bunchAs it has the highest natural strength scaling for its physical damage. The Zweihander doesn’t hit as hard, but has the advantage of its heavy thrust attack. The Ancient Meteoric Ore Greetsword provides amazing mobility with its unique skill White Light Charge.

Talismans such as these Two-handed sword talisman

Should always be utilized, but talismans such as these spear talisman

Should only be utilized when using the Zweihander’s unique thrust attack and Ancient Meteoric Ore Graceword.

The colossal sword build can always be supported by levels in Faith, Intelligence, or Arcane to use spellcasting for buffs, debuffs, and status build-up, but this isn’t necessary for the build to shine. however, A force stat of 60 is quite importantAs this will allow more wiggle room when it comes to trading attacks with other players.

The levels in Arcane are only so the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greetsword can be used with this setup, as its mobility is too strong to ride up. With this setup, have fun dominating the competition in PVP duels in Alden ring.
