Outer Banks Season 4’s Devastating Theory Completely Changes How You View the Entire Show

Warning: the article contains spoilers External Banks season 4, part 2

A shocking theory after the end of External Banks season 4 makes fans understand the show in a whole new light. While Season 4 returns the Pogues to their home territory of North Carolina’s Outer Banks for most of the season, the characters also find themselves hunting for treasure in Morocco while facing conman Chandler Groff. External Banks Season 4 dealt with several big revelations about the characters and their futures, including the news that Sarah and John B are going to have a child, as well as JJ’s tragic death.

Just like in previous seasons, The Pogues’ treasure hunt is narrated by John B, who provides the audience with additional information about the difficulties and lessons the group encountered, and none were more moving than season 4’s sad final monologue. A new theory about External Banks claims that this narration, which helps the audience understand and contextualize the season’s biggest events, actually has a different purpose that has not yet been revealed.

Outer Banks theory explained – John B’s narration is him talking to his son in the future

John B may have been detailing his adventures to his son all along

Since season 1, External Banks included voiceovers from John B that provide helpful context or explain his more complex thoughts to the audience. However, now that External Banks season 4 confirmed that Sarah is pregnant, a new theory claims that John B’s narration was always him narrating his adventures to his future sonnot the public.

However, the theory also has much sadder implications when combined with John B’s narration of JJ’s death at the end of External Banks season 4

In the first seasons of External BanksJohn B’s narrations often had to do with describing life on the Outer Banks or detailing the importance of family and friend relationships, potentially outlining important life lessons for a child. However, the theory also has much sadder implications when combined with John B’s narration of JJ’s death at the end of External Banks season 4. The emotion and honesty in this narration seem to make it more likely that he is talking to his son or daughter about his namesake (if John B and Sarah decide to name their baby JJ).

Will John B and Sarah name their son JJ in Outer Banks?

JJ had previously suggested naming Sarah and John B’s baby, JJ

Although JJ was initially skeptical of John B’s ability to be a father when John B broke the news of Sarah’s pregnancy to him, John B was adamant that JJ be the child’s godfather. Plus, when JJ saved Sarah from drowning in Season 4 Episode 9, “The Storm,” it further cemented him as the natural choice to be her baby’s namesake. While recovering from the storm, JJ himself even jokingly suggested that JJ was a good name for a babybecause it works for any gender.

While there is no definitive proof that Sarah and John B will name their baby JJ, these hints indicate that they may decide to do so. Especially considering JJ’s death at the end of External Banks Season 4, John B and Sarah may choose to honor JJ this way, since he can no longer be the best man. If that’s the case, it would make sense that John B’s voiceovers would be for his children, to explain why they chose the name JJ and to outline the adventures the original character had.

Outer Banks narration theory suggests what the show’s planned “final shot” is

The creators always had an idea for the ending

This new External Banks the narration theory could also fit into knowledge that the show’s creators have kept hidden this entire time. External BanksCreators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke revealed that They always knew what the final scene of the entire series will be. This detail is very important when considering how much the characters have gone through throughout the 4 seasons of the series and knowing that the 5th season will be External Banks‘last season.

If the narration theory is correct, then the final scene could include John B telling his son the story of his and Sarah’s adventures while they were at the beach or somewhere familiar. External Banks location

Always knowing what the final scene of the series would be points to the fact that the creators always had a distinct vision for the characters’ final journey. This new narration theory could also tie into the planned final scene because it is based solely on John B, who has been framed as the focal point since the beginning of the first season. If the narration theory is correct, then the final scene could include John B telling his son the story of his and Sarah’s adventures while they were at the beach or somewhere familiar. External Banks location.

While any final scene idea is currently just speculation, this one seems particularly fitting as it brings the story full circle. External Banks has always kept the focus on parent-child relationships in the context of the treasure hunt, so if narration theory is correct, It seems appropriate that the final scene could be tied to father and son and their relationship to adventure.
