Stardew Valley may already allow farmers to take care of their slime cages, but After witnessing the action of a frightened creature, the community wants to take care of even more monsters.. While it may not be all that intimidating compared to some of the creatures in the lower levels of the Mine, stone crabs have a certain charm that can’t be denied. Protected by the stone they carry on their backs, players wishing to destroy the defensive invertebrates must deal with their shells before doing anything else.
Posted on Reddit by user Spinach is disgustingthe player shared a brief video of his encounter with a stone crab whose shell was destroyed, stating that they want to keep the monster as a pet.
It’s not hard to understand their thoughts: seeing a tiny creature trembling among the stones is a heartbreaking sight. The community almost unanimously agreed that the appearance of a small stone crab can be a great addition to the game, despite its monstrous nature.
Catching monsters can be a fun mini-game in Stardew Valley
Luckily, mods can help make this a reality.
Stardew Valley already allows players to create a menagerie of farm animals, but the ability to catch and train game monsters can be very interesting. It’s easy to see a mini-game inspired by games like Pokemon this will allow players to go underground and fight monsters with their own team of captured creatures. A mechanic like this would likely be a huge undertaking, so it seems doubtful that developer ConcernedApe would prioritize something that would be too niche.
Having said that, the modding community could probably develop something that neatly fits into Stardew Valleyestablished gameplay loop. Going the route of player-created expansion may not provide the depth seen in games like TemTem or Cassette BeastsBut it could still add a new dimension to diversify the types of adventures players can go on in the Mines.. There are already several mods that allow farmers to take crabs as pets, so Spinach-is-Disgusten can at least grant their wish.

Screen Rant’s take: More pets, more fun
Pets could be even better
Stardew ValleyUpdate 1.6 has improved pets in many ways, but the system is still fairly basic compared to the game’s other mechanics. I think allowing users to raise creatures they encounter in the wild could be an interesting addition.providing even more variety to a game that is already packed with content. I also believe in the power of a well designed mod and know the popularity Pokemon franchises, I see someone trying their best to implement a similar system in Stardew Valley.
