High potential star Daniel Sunjata comments on the love triangle involving Karadec, Morgan and Tom in the new series. ABC’s newest procedural based on the 2021 French television series, IPHis led by It’s Sunny In Philadelphia star Kaitlin Olson, who also produces the project. This marks the return to the small screen of Drew Goddard from The good place and Netflix Reckless fame. As a police officer, Morgan, a high-potential individual, joins the LAPD to solve crimes in the city. In addition, however, High potential is also subtly developing a romantic plot involving its main protagonist.
Daniel Sunjata talks to Screen speech about the love triangle forming High potentialwith Morgan in the center. Tom clearly expressed his interest in her, and although Karadec didn’t, it’s no secret that the LAPD quasi-partners have great chemistry. Despite the competition, Sunjata is thrilled to have Pardo around and says Tom’s role only makes Morgan’s story exciting in High Potential. Read his full quote below:
First off, let me say, JD Pardo is amazing. He is so talented. He brings a lot to the show, and so when I saw his handsome face walk onto the set, I thought, “Wait a second, guys. We don’t need guys that good-looking on the show. I’m 72 here, let’s cast a halo around Karadec.” ” [Laughs] But he’s amazing, and we don’t actually share any scenes together.
There are scenes that our characters share with Morgan, but I’m usually at the beginning of one of those scenes and JD comes in at the end. Or JD is at the beginning of the scene and Karadec enters at the end. I think this is part of Morgan’s tension scenario, which has many, many options. There are many men who are interested in her and who she might be interested in. I think this keeps the audience guessing. But what JD brings to the show in terms of talent, experience and incredible bone structure cannot be overestimated. He’s incredible.
How Tom’s Involvement Improves High Potential
This makes Morgan and Karadec’s Will-They/Won’t-They dynamic more exciting
Pardo only joined High potential episode 6 with very little fanfare leading up to her appearance. Playing the new janitor at the police station, Tom, he approached Morgan about staining the glass doors with his fingers covered in chip residue. The pair spoke again at the end of the episode, making it clear that there is a mutual attraction between them. In High potential episode 7, Tom and Morgan’s relationship appears to become deeper. While this effectively derails Karadec’s hopes of maintaining a relationship with his consultant, the situation actually creates a more interesting future for the show.
Tom can be that third party that slows down this process and gives High potential Time to further explore Morgan and Karadec’s romance.
Based on what happened in High potential By now, it’s clear that they are establishing a Will they/won’t they relationship for Morgan and Karadec. While this trope is fun on its own, it can be really frustrating without any kind of external factor driving the plot other than the characters simply not acting on their feelings. Tom can be that third party that slows down this process and gives High potential Time to further explore Morgan and Karadec’s romance. It also doesn’t hurt that he and Morgan are fun to watch together.
Our take on who Morgan should be with high potential
Morgan and Karadec are a better match
THE High potential The fall finale brings the pair closer than ever, and unless something changes during the break, it’s safe to say the show will continue to build on their growing affair. However, that doesn’t mean Karadec is no longer in the picture. Assuming that High potential is renewed for Season 2, there would be plenty of time for him and Morgan to slowly transition from co-workers to lovers. If ABC is planning to follow what happens in IPHso it’s safe to say it’s only a matter of time before Morgan and Karadec start dating.
