I’ll never get over what boys did to love sausage

The boysThe TV adaptation is wildly different from the comic book series it’s based on, and while the Prime Video show made tons of big changes, I’m still not over what the series did with Love Sausage. Although he is not a major character in Amazon’s version of The boysLove Sausage makes numerous cameos. Having first appeared when the boys infiltrated Sage Grove, the former patient makes an instant impression when he attacks MM, revealing that his superpower is his abnormally large penis that can be used as a tentacle, which is a surprisingly efficient weapon.

Love Sausage also appears during “Herogasm”, where he greets Starlight and MM, resulting in a humorous interaction between the trio. His final participation takes place during The boys season 4 finale, where he once again faces MM. With the boys on the run, Love Sausage is recruited as part of Homelander’s super army and is tasked with capturing MM.which he does by ambushing him inside a bathroom. While little is known about his experience on the TV show, it’s hard to forget the Russian villain, and I still can’t believe how different he is compared to his comic counterpart.

The boys’ love sausage looks nothing like the comic book character

Both versions of the love sausage have completely different roles in the boys’ story

Aside from his nationality and unique superpower, Love Sausage in the comics is an entirely different character than the Prime Video depiction. While I personally like Amazon’s hilarious take on the character, the comic book version has a lot more personality and a much bigger role overall. Considering Love Sausage is one of MM’s biggest enemies on the show, the Russian super is actually an ally of The Boys in the source material and is one of the few heroes who can be trusted, even helping the protagonists in various missions, including the fight against Stormfront.

During his final moments, Love Sausage manages to text Hughie about Butcher’s true nature during the comic’s final arc, making him one of the most likable superheroes in all of history.

During his final moments, Love Sausage manages to text Hughie about Butcher’s true nature during the comic’s final arc, making him one of the most likable superheroes in all of history. In comparison, Prime Video’s Love Sausage only appears occasionally, mostly as a joke to take down MM. Given how strong the rest of the cast is, reducing the character to a smaller role still works, and I like his sporadic appearances, but he still doesn’t hold a candle to his comic book counterpart, making this change difficult to fully pull off. on.

With how many differences The boys TV shows and comics yes, it was inevitable that some characters would suffer a slight downgrade. However, considering that the TV series has had far more hits than misses when it comes to its unique takes on superheroes, I’m willing to forgive Amazon, even if I’ll never get used to this ambitious take on Love Sausage.

Love Sausage became a joke, but now he’s also a villain!

The love sausage has been a constant thorn in the side of the protagonists of the TV universe

Although Love Sausage was not The boys The most serious character in the comics, he was treated as a valuable ally who could hold his own in a fight. On the other hand, the Prime Video version is a bit playful, as well as villainous. Love Sausage clearly can still fight on the show, as he knocked out MM during the season 4 finale and posed a real threat during season 2, but the comical nature of his power means that it is still mostly used as a joke. While this is already a big change, the TV universe also decided to make him an antagonist.

He has no real relationship with the protagonists other than becoming a minor enemy of MM, given how often the two have crossed paths. Instead, he appears to be like many other superheroes on the show, evil and willing to do Homelander’s bidding, likely in exchange for his freedom. Unfortunately, not much is known about their motives and we are unlikely to learn more in The boys‘ fifth and final season, but making him a villain adds a layer of humor to watching the central characters face him.

For readers who don’t like comics, Love Sausage’s role in the series is probably perfect. He’s not unnecessarily forced into the story, provides some outrageous but hilarious moments, and is a fun, minor antagonist for the boys to try and deal with. Unfortunately, for those familiar with his comic book arc, it’s still a little sad to see him play such a small role, leaving me conflicted about the TV version.

An authentic love sausage would have been a great addition to the boys

The boys having a trusted super ally could have made for a fun dynamic

Love Sausage and Karl Urban as Billy Butcher in The Boys

Whether you love or hate Prime Video’s version of Love Sausage, there’s no doubt that an authentic version would have been a great addition to the show. Many of the Boys’ super-capable allies came through blackmail or supes who wanted to turn their backs on Vought. While this has led to some great stories like A-Train’s redemption, the protagonists have had very few truly trustworthy super friends throughout the series, excluding Kimiko and Starlight. So someone like Love Sausage providing reliable assistance would have added a new dynamic, and seeing the characters discover their power for the first time feels hilarious.

Whether he would have survived the series’ relentless villains is another question, but it was only when Butcher turned on The Boys that Love Sausage met his end in the comicssuggesting that their lively personality and unorthodox abilities could have given the heroes a real boost in the Prime Video universe. Overall, Love Sausage has still been a fun addition to the TV series and I always enjoy seeing it pop up – even if it’s usually bad news for the main group; However, I still feel that The boys should have adapted his comedic personality.
