Arcane season two puts more focus on Ambessa Medarda, a character who is manipulating the remaining members of Piltover’s council for her own means. In Arcane At the end of the first season, Jinx forever changed the war between the wealthy nation of Piltover and its poor underground city of Zaun. Jinx’s attack on Piltover’s seat of power has removed any chance of peace between the two cities, fueling an anger-filled quest for revenge that will now be led by Piltover’s new general, Caitlyn Kiramman, from Arcane Season 2, end of Act I.
Much of the anger Caitlyn feels comes from her mother’s death in Jinx’s attack, but it has been intensified by another core member of the group. ArcaneCast of characters: Ambessa Medarda. Arcane Season 2, Episode 3 revealed that Ambessa was responsible for Zaun’s attack on the memorial to the fallen members of Piltover’s council, which the Noxian warrior used to her advantage. Driven by the emergence of the Black Rose cabal of Noxus in ArcaneAmbessa manipulated her way to the top of Piltover’s influence, but to what end?
Ambessa wants control of Piltover – and Hextech
Ambessa has a goal in mind
From Arcane At the end of Season 2, Episode 3, it’s clear that Ambessa simply wants control of Piltover. She manipulated one of the surviving council members from Jinx’s attack into ArcaneSalo, to put her in a strong position. By orchestrating more attacks against Piltover in Arcane In Season 2, Episode 1, Ambessa used the fear and anger of the citizens of Piltover as an excuse to rise to power. This coincided with Ambessa and her Noxian guards “saving” Piltover from this attack she implemented, giving her great influence over the wealthy nation and eventually Hextech.
This is apparently Ambessa Medarda’s ultimate goal in Arcane season 2. She already has a puppet advisor in Salo and has appointed Caitlyn as a supposed general to declare martial law on Zaun. If the Noxian warlord’s plans lead to the neutralization of the threat that Jinx and Zaun pose, Ambessa will likely climb further up the ranks of Piltover’s already fractured power ladder. She could do this by turning Hextech into a weapon and controlling it, allowing her hidden motives to become clear.
Why does Ambessa want control of Piltover and Hextech?
In Arcane In Season 2, Act I, it was revealed that Ambessa fled Noxus due to a powerful force of witches called the Black Rose. While it’s unclear what Ambessa did to harm the Black Rose, it resulted in her son’s death. It is clear in Arcane Season 2 that Ambessa is scared of these witches and therefore desperate, explaining why she wants control of Piltover and Hextech.
Using Piltover’s incredible resources, Ambessa could fight the Black Rose. This would only be aided by Hextech weaponry, which is a combination of Runeterra’s magical and technological properties. Therefore, Ambessa is likely seeking full control over Piltover in Arcane as a means of accumulating not only the city’s general resources, but also its Hextech weapons, all as a means of fighting the dangerously powerful cult that is trying to kill her.
Set in the League of Legends universe, Arcane focuses on sisters Violet and Powder (later Jinx), who end up on opposite sides of a growing conflict between the wealthy utopia of Piltover and its dark underground city, whose citizens wish to break away from their oppressors. .
